The HIGH POINT STORM, a non-profit organization, is proud to be fielding 4 teams currently playing in 11u, 12u, 13u and 14u and looking to grow more teams for the 2009/2010 season. We are comprised of dedicated players supported by committed families from the High Point and surrounding areas. Many of these players and families have been playing baseball for years and were looking for more competitive and structured baseball experience. They were selected for their passion of baseball, their desire to play at a higher level, athletic skills, attitude and sportsmanship.

Our Storm teams will will start our off season workouts on Monday November 30th. Our workouts will be with Velocity Sports Performace to work on speed, agility and strength. The STORM 12u team won the Oxford Fall Championship this past weekend by posting a 3-1 record. Saturday started a little slow in the first game against the Triangle Tigers. We fell behind early, but managed a come back to pull within one run in the 5th inning. Storm falls late to Tigers 10-6. Second pool game was vs. the Quad County Phantoms. Storm jumps out to an early lead 5-1 through 3 innings. Storm manages to hang on to this one after a late rally from the Phantoms to win 6-5.

Sunday was bracket play and we faced off with the Durham Indians in the semifinal game. A very well played and exciting game. Storm never trailed in this one, but Durham did not go away easy. We held a 4-1 late in the game and they picked up 2 runs to make it 4-3. With it being 4-3 in the top of the sixth and Durham having 2 men on with no outs, we had a little luck on on side. A soft liner was hit on 2nd base side of the bag and we caught it, stepped on 2nd and threw to first for a triple play to end the game. What an ending. This puts the Storm in the championship against the Triangle Tigers, rematch from Saturday.

The championship game was a good one, the Storm jumps out to an early 4-0 lead going into the third. Tigers would not quit and would get 5 of there own in the 3rd inning to make it 5-4 Tigers. Storm would not be denided  after putting up 6 more runs through the next 2 innings, to make it 10-6 Storm going into the top of the sixth inning. The first 2 batters we got outs on real quick, pop up to short stop and a fly ball to centerfield. The Tigers were not done, coming up with a solo homerun and then a hit followed by another homerun to cut the score to 10-9. Storm gets the next batter to line out to 2nd base for the final out of the game STORM wins championship.

The 12u Storm finished 2-2 and takes 3rd place this past weekend in Morganton, NC.

The 12 STORM  went out and won the Guilford Invitational sponsored by Nations Baseball this past weekend. By going 2-0 in pool play defeating the Braves (Appalachian) and the Carolina Rockhounds. The STORM and the DT Braves were both 2-0 in pool play and agreed to play the Championship game and bypass the meaningless pool game.

STORM takes championship 7-6 over the DT Braves in a hard fought game. Both teams played extremely hard never backed down. 12u STORM will be back in action Oct. 3rd  & 4th in Morganton NC, for a Triple Crown Baseball Tournament.

A great effort by a young group of STORM players who have gelled well over the last several weeks.

We are proud to announce that we have added an 11u team starting this fall 2009 and will carry over to Spring 2010. Kevin Wall will be the head coach of that team, Kevin comes to us from another travel team. This team will still be based out of High Point, but will be taking players from all over the Piedmont. This team will also practice in High Point and south of Thomasville towards the Denton area.
