HIGHLAND GRIDIRON BOOSTER CLUB: Coach's Corner
SUMMER FOOTBALL RECAP-2009
It was a busy summer as our players attended numerous 7 on 7 tournaments and our lineman also attended 2 lineman competions. We had a very succesful won-lost record in our 7 on 7 games. We were quite the "Road Warriors" this summer. In addition to attending passing tournaments in Las Vegas, Pierce college, Santa Fe High School in Santa Fe Springs, and Marina High School in Huntington Beach, we traveled to Hart High School, Saugus High School, and Cantwell Sacred Hart in Los Angeles. We played some of the top ranked teams in Southern California. Our players should be proud and feel good about what they accomplished. Our lineman also had a successful summer.
In addition to spending a lot of time in the weightroom and practice field, they distinghuished themselves by placing in the top ten at the Santa Fe linemans's competion (40 teams competed). They came in second in the tug of war competition, beating powerhouse teams like Carson High School, to get to the finals. At the "Battle by the Beach" at Marina High School in Huntington Beach, the lineman won the tug of war competition, to cap another successful day.
I want to thank our Booster Club and all the parents that came to the summer competions for their support. We couldn't do it without you!!
