2008 Highland Hornets Youth Football is under way
After the fourth week of the season our Highland Hornets teams continue to have great success. Great job by all teams, players, and coaches. The scores for each week can be found under the Weekly Scores and Standings link. GO Hornets!!!!!
Monday, September 22 Halfway there Well week 4 is in the books, and 6 out of 7 teams are setting up nicely for the play-offs, and team 7 isnt done yet! We went 10-3 this past weekend, so we are doing very well, with big wins in Medina, and Rittman. Thanks for the turn outs in all locations including Greenleaf. We are planning a tailgate weekend toward the end of this season when we have a full schedule at Greenleaf. Heck it sure beats a Browns tailgate so far this year!! We will keep you posted. Friday, September 12 Mud, water and fun While watching a football game in a downpour might rank right up there with getting a root canal for some, it is a flat out blast for the players. So remember, we PLAY in the rain, and we will still need all the volunteers, so be prepared with your rain gear. We will need towels to dry off the game balls as we go, so if you have some old towles you can bring for your team, please do. We will see you all Sat. Monday, September 8 WOW We had a great weekend of football this past weekend. The weather was football perfect, and we took advantage. The weekends record was 10-2-1, that is wicked folks. That puts us overall at 17-7-2, which I think is very good. Congrats on all the wins, and the way we did it this week. Also thanks again to Dan and Gina Roessler who ran the show at Green Leaf park while the rest of us were away. Much appreciation also goes to all the folks who pitched in again and helped this weekend, it doesnt go without your help. This upcoming weekend we have a full schedule at Green Leaf, and a couple teams are off with week day games the following week. See you all there. Wednesday, September 3 First week is in the books Well we survived the first full week of games, and with just a few bumps in the road, are ready for week 2. Thank you to all the folks that helped announce, worked concessions, worked spirit wear and did chains for all 6 games at Green Leaf. Folks, this is your program, and as much fun as it is to make this a social event, please remember we need everyones help to make this program go. Too often its the same people working all day, and thats simply not fair. Please sign up to assist in anyway you can. If you wonder what you can do, just ask and we will happily explain what the needs are for every game. We also could always use help at the first game and the last in setting up and clean up. We ended the first week with a 7-5 record, with Black B playing wed. evening. Lets hope for 8-5. Good luck this weekend and see you all then. Friday, August 15 2008 Kick Off Classic is here Well folks the teams are practicing, and the first game is a scant 2 weeks away. But before that, we have our second annual "Kick Off Classic" . We will again make that our picture day too. We have acquired 1,200 sq. ft. of tent to cover our raffle items, and spirit wear, and add to our concession area. So we are on rain or shine. This is our only fundraiser each year, so please plan on spending some time with us. We will have tackle, flag, cheerleading, PPK contest, and all kinds of food. We will have pizza, grilled dogs, ice cream, slushy drinks, and probably some surprises I dont know about. Your coach will give you your picture schedule, please be on time for that, because your scrimmage will directly follow. With so many teams, we will have a tight schedule to keep so everyone gets a chance to show their stuff. This is an event where you can see the entirety of Highland Youth Football in action. Mr. McCune is going to be on the announcers desk again, giving us his play by play. So please, come out early have a full day of football, food and fun with us. As always we appreciate your support. Wednesday, August 6 Kickoff Classic Our next big event is the 2008 Kickoff Classic. This scheduled for Saturday, 8/23 at Greenleaf. We are working on the details, but it is a great event. We will have all the teams, flag, tackle, and cheerleaders. We will be taking our individual and team pictures, having short scrimmages for the flag and tackle teams, and the cheerleaders will perform their halftime dances. We having a silent auction, selling our spirit wear, and the concession stand will be open, also. Please stay tuned as details are finalized. Also, if would like to help that day or during the season, please contact us. Wednesday, July 2 Its getting closer!!!!! Well registration is closed, and we find all our rosters are full!
