   Great coaching is no accident. It starts with a love for the game. It grows from a strong desire to give children the tools they need to succeed on the field and in life. And it can happen in any league, with any team, anywhere in the world.

  Team Manager and Coach Roles and Responsibilities
Having qualified team managers and coaches are key to the smooth operation of teams in HDLL.  Often, the League receives questions about the differences in the roles and responsibilities for managers and coaches. This section summarizes several of the key differences between managers and coaches in our League.

Team Managers

Roles and responsibilities of Team Managers include:
    • Overall team leadership and accountability
    • Teach and demonstrate good sportsmanship by respecting the rules, opponents, officials, teammates, and one's self
    • Refrain from the use of insulting, embarrassing, foul, or abusive language. Be a good role model
    • Have the understanding, patience, and the capacity to work with children in the age group of the division
    • Attendance at mandatory manager/coaching clinics
    • Accountability for actions of the team (parents, players, coaches)
    • Responsible for understanding, complying with, and enforcing all HDLL and Little League rules, regulations,  and policies
    • Game preparations and related decisions
    • Practice planning and game strategy
    • Discipline and personnel moves
    • Team communication (rules, schedules, league events, etc)
    • Field preparation and cleanup
    • Return all issued equipment at the end of the season in good an clean condition
Roles and responsibilities of coaches on the team include:

    • Skill instruction (pitching, hitting, fielding)
    • Teach and demonstrate good sportsmanship by respecting the rules, opponents, officials, teammates, and one's self
    • Refrain from the use of insulting, embarrassing, foul, or abusive language. Be a good role model
    • Have the understanding, patience, and the capacity to work with children in the age group of the division
    • Attendance at mandatory coaching clinics
    • Responsible for understanding, complying with, and enforcing all HDLL League rules, regulations, and policies
    • Repetition training (ground balls, fly balls, batting practice)
    • Base coaching
    • Dugout monitoring
    • Pitcher warm-up
    • Field preparation and cleanup
    • Manage the team in the absence of the Team Manager
    • Advise the Team Manager on game and practice strategy
    • Assist the Team Manager where/when needed with team activities

Under the Registration Forms category - File name is Medical Release Form - Each Manager should have a completed form for every player on their team.  Todd Weiss / Matt Brauns will be passing out to each team the first week of games

  • Juniors are listed separate from the rest of the league due to inter league play

  • You may schedule "two" practice times up to two weeks in advance on a first come basis by sending an email to  Vic LIttman @ lionadus@yahoo.com.
  • Please DO NOT send a request the same day and expect to get a practice field

Fall ball is an instructional non competitive league designed to allow all player to improve their baseball skills.
Volunteer Forms

Any coach/manager/parent that has any on field contact with any players must complete the form and receive clearance from HDLL & Little League.  Completed forms are to be returned to Brad Bengston at 623-551-8947 (fax) 
Parent Forms
There are a couple forms listed on the website that focus on the parents that are a resource for the managers. Parent Code of Conduct  & Little League Pledge.  It is NOT necessary to pass them out.
Pitch Log & Matrix
Excel spreadsheet to track the performance of each pitcher throughout out the year.  This form was designed for spring to keep pitch counts for each player but can be used in fall to track performance.  This form is NOT required to keep
