Griffith Pop Warner: My Site News
Thursday, February 2COMMON QUESTIONS ABOUT GRIFFITH POP WARNER
1. What happens after i register? Once registration is completed in June, your child will be placed on a roster. Once rostered, you will recieve a call from the coach of your child's team/squad. This should accur by mid July. the coach will have information for the upcoming season, including equipment handouts (usually the weekend before practice starts), practice schedules, etc.
2. What about practice? Practice will begin on or around August 1st. Exact time and location depends on the squad/team your child is on.
3. Explain the reqistration costs. Our fees are competitive with other local Pop Warner organizations. A sample of 8 other organizations shows total averge fees for one child to participate is $250. Ours is $210. the raffle tickets are for the jerseys and cheer spirit pack, which the children keep. This generates no extra revenue for GPW. The volunteer fee is repaid to you when you work the concession stand, or other jobs as needed by GPW. Our registration fees are calculated to pay for all the dues and fees at the local, regional, and national level during the course of the season, including league dues, insurance, field fees, security, etc. The registration generates very little extra revenue for the organization.
4. Why should I fundraise? It is the fundraising revenue that allows GPW to purchase and refurbish the equipment that our children use, so the importance of fundraising cannot be overstated. Fundraising support has decreased recently, forcing the organization to make difficult financial decisions. Many other organizations have begun to add large mandtory fundraising fees to their registration; we have so far resisted that option. But if fundraising continues to decline, and costs continue to increase, fees would have to increase.
5. Can I help? YES YOU CAN! there is much to be done n a day to day basis in order for the program to run smoothly. Teams need coaches and team parents. Help at practice, help at games. Talk to a board member, talkto your child's coach.
6. What can I expect from GPW? We will provide a safe environment for learning about and participating in the programs that we offer. We will meet (and often exceed) Pop Warner requirements for participation, teach sportsmanship, proper techniques, and try to win competitions, games, and championships while we're at it. We will expect you to support the program and adhere to the zero tolerance policy at all times. We expect you to be respectful of all volunteers in GPW, and to handle and disagreements with maturity. If you have an issue, seak to the head coach. If this dos not resolve the issue, speak to the Player Agent, who will involve other parties as appropriate for issue resolution. Please know that violation of the zero tolerance policy by you will affect the participation of your child in the program. This is youth sports. Never lose perspective of that.
