Greensboro Giants Mitey Mites Victorius Over the R&R Dawgs
The Greensboro Giants Mitey Mites continued their undefeated season with a nail biting 13-6 victory over the R&R Dawgs.  Throughout the rainy morning the Giant defense played a major part of keeping the Dawgs at bay.  The Dawgs struck early in the first quarter on a long touchdown run and ended the first quarter with a 6-0 lead.  The second quarter was a stalemate with both teams playing exceptional defense.  In true fashion with previous games the “Big Red” offense and defense controlled the second half.  The Giants made quick use of their possession scoring on a 14 yard quarterback sneak and tied the game 6-6.  On the next offensive possession shifty moves and a quick acceleration led to a 50 yard touchdown run.  After the successful point after try the Giants lead 13-6.  The fourth quarter was about “Big Red” defense and they did not allow a first down or positive yardage.  The Giants are 5-0 and keep the winning streak at 13 games.

Mitey Mites: Greensboro Giants 26 - Winston-Salem Tiny Rams 12
In their first game of the 2011 NWMPWFL Pop Warner season the Greensboro Mitey Mites built upon last season’s perfect 8-0 record by scoring a resounding team victory over the Winston Salem Tiny Rams 26-12.  Trying to overcome the rust from the off season the Giants fell behind quickly behind the arm of Rams quarterback with a first quarter strike to a wide open receiver in the corner.  The Giants responded just as quick behind long runs from their tailback and quarterback.  The Giants fullback finished the drive with a five yard run up the middle anchored by the offensive line.  The first quarter ended in a 6-6 tie with Giants blue team poised to take over in the second quarter.  But behind the Rams quarterback long touchdown run the Giants fell behind again 12-6 with three minutes left.  The Giants buckled down and marched down the field led by a first year Giant tailback who eventually scored on a 25 yard scamper that tied the game 12-12 at halftime.  In the spirit of the 2010 season the Giants took over the second half primarily by defensive stands.  The Giants were relentless during their first defensive stand resulting in forcing the Rams to turn over the ball on downs.  Again added by runs from one of their tailbacks the Giants marched down the field and one of the fullbacks capped the drive with his second touchdown from two yards out.  Returning back to defensive the Giants finally intercepted the Rams quarterback but subsequently fumbled the ball.  The defensive unit summoning their conditioning energy one more time was able to move the Rams backwards forcing them to a 4th and 35 to begin the fourth quarter.  The Giants stopped them far short as they tackled the quarterback behind the line of scrimmage.  Behind runs from a couple of their power players the Giants marched down to the 10 yard line.  The quarterback dropped back and found a receiver in the end zone for a perfect score and a 26-12 lead.  The Giants defense had one more defensive stand stopping the Rams and any chances for fourth quarter comeback.  The offensive team iced the game by several first down runs and ran the clock for their first victory of 2011.  The Greensboro Mitey Mites look forward to continuing their winning streak next Saturday at home against the Lewisville Titans.
