Do you have a love for the sport of Cheer? Do you love the excitement of the game and enjoy competition? Then welcome to The Greensboro Giants Football and Cheerleading Association 2012! We are glad you decided to visit us.
Greensboro Giants offer a great experience for youth who want to cheer for a team and also participate in exhibitions or competitions. Greensboro Giants has cheerleading squads for youth ages 5 to 15. There are "NO" tryouts. Cheerleaders are expected to fully participate in games and exhibition/competition until completion of the season.
Practice:
Cheerleaders typically practice Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., at Joe Davis Park 1410 19th Street, Greensboro, NC. Mitey Mite practices will be adjusted once school starts. Older teams may be at another location when training for competition.
Conditioning is a part of cheer so they will be doing a lot of it. Different exercises will be implemented to the Directors discretions.
1. NO jewelry should be worn at practice. (Including but not limited to necklaces, rings, earrings of ANY kind.
2. IF they decide that they want to have artificial nails they MUST BE SHORT and approved by The Director.
3. Practice Clothes: loose shirts, t-shirts, wear socks and a good running shoe.
4. No low mid drift shirts
Placement
Every cheerleader will be placed on a squad that meets their age requirements, & cheerleading level.
***The Cheer Director will place the cheerleaders according to AYFCL Guidelines and according what is going to be safest for the cheerleaders. ***
LOCALS: This competition is held locally and will occur at the end of October.
REGIONALS: Located in Charlotte, NC (If they quality)
We travel on Thanksgiving Day and compete the day after Thanksgiving
1 night hotel stay required
NATIONALS: Located in Florida (If they qualify)
We invite you to stay and observe practice but please respect the coaches and sit a discreet distance away and do not disturb them during practice time. If you must leave your child during practice, please make sure that another adult at the field is responsible for your child in case of illness, injury or sudden weather changes. Practice may end early sometimes. You must pick your child up from practice ON TIME! Please be considerate of other's time as the coach or director can not leave until ALL participants have been picked up
Items included in the registration fee:
Uniforms will be issued after season starts. Uniforms are loaned and returned to the Giants at the end of the season.
