Greenfield Little League: Welcome

Through proper guidance and exemplary leadership, Greenfield Little League assists youth in developing the qualities of citizenship, discipline, teamwork and physical well-being. By espousing the virtues of character, courage and loyalty, Greenfield Little League is designed to develop superior citizens rather than superior athletes.

Registration for the 2012 Greenfield Little League season will be held on Sunday January 15th and 22nd.  We will be holding registration at GHS cafeteria from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm both days.  Below are some frequently asked questions:

What are the ages for each division?

Baseball divisions are based on the child's age as of May 1st 2012

4 to 6 years old - Tball

6 to 8 years old - Rookie (Machine Pitch)

8 to 10 years old - Minors (Player pitch 46 foot mound 60 foot bases)

11 and 12 years old - Majors (50 foot mound 70 foot bases)

13 to 16 years old - Juniors (60.6 foot mound 90 foot bases)

Softball divisions are based on the player’s age as of December 31st 2011

6 to 8 years old - Rookie (Machine Pitch)

8 to 11 years old - Minors (Player pitch 35 foot mound 60 foot bases)

10 to 12 years old - Majors (Player pitch 40 foot mound 60 foot bases)

13 to 16 years old - Juniors (Player pitch 40 foot mound 60 foot bases) 

What forms do I need for registering my child?

If you are new to GLL please provide proof of address with a utility bill or bank statement and provide a birth certificate to verify player’s age.  Players living outside the boundaries are able to play in GLL league play but are not eligible to participate in any regional, statewide or national tournaments.  Also plan to bring any medical information such as doctor’s name and number and any emergency contact information.

When does the season start and end?

Practice starts at the beginning of April (weather permitting). 

Opening day is Saturday May 12th (May 13th if rained out May 12th). 

The season ends on Saturday July 14th (July 15th if rained out July 14th). 

All Star Saturday will be held July 28th (July 29th if rained out July 28th).

There will be no games scheduled on:

May 26th to 28th (Memorial day weekend)

June 18th (Brewers night out Fundraiser)

July 3rd and 4th

What days of the week are the games scheduled?

GLL strives to provide consistent schedules for easy planning.  Our baseball divisions will play 2 times a week based on the following format:

T-Ball - Tuesday evening and Saturday morning

Rookie - Wednesday evening and Saturday afternoon

Minors - Tuesday evening and Friday evening

Majors - Monday evening and Thursday evening

Junior boys and ALL SOFTBALL Divisions play a varied schedule due to the fact that they play other local Little Leagues for regular season play.

Where are games played?

All games for the T-Ball through Major Boy’s division are played at Kulwicki Park near Highway 100 and Coldspring Ave.

Junior Boys play at Glenwood School, Zablocki park and travel to other local leagues home fields.

All softball divisions play home games at Kulwicki Park.  Road games are held at hosting leagues fields.

How can I pay?

You can pay league fees by Check or Cash.  We do not accept Credit Cards at the registration sessions.  Credit Cards may be used to register online.

Can I sell Candy Bars if I register online?

No.  The candy bar fundraiser is set up on a consignment system with the candy bar provider and we are unable to offer candy bar sales to online registrants.  Buyout of fundraiser is the only option that is available online.

What is the Volunteer Fee?

GLL is an entirely volunteer based organization.  In an effort to involve everyone in the leagues development GLL uses a volunteer fee.  Prior to your child being allowed to participate in any league activities each family must sign up for one volunteer shift, volunteer to coach or manage a team or serve on the GLL board.  When signing up for the volunteer shift you must provide a check to GLL for $100 per family.  The check will be postdated for May 1st, 2012.  GLL will provide envelopes at sign up for you to fill in your address.  Upon completion of your volunteer shift GLL will mail your check to you in the envelope you filled out at sign up.  If you fail to fulfill your shift or commitment GLL will cash the check.  Once you sign up the volunteer coordinator will provide you with a receipt with your volunteer information.  Volunteer shifts are approximately 3 hours in length and are served in either the concession stand, as a park monitor/safety patrol or at one of the preseason field prep days.  Further details of all volunteer positions are available under the LEAGUE HANDOUTS tab.  NO ON SITE REGISTRATION WILL BE ACCEPTED WITHOUT A RECEIPT PROVIDED BY THE VOLUNTEER COORDINATOR.

I signed up online.  How do I sign up for my volunteer shift?

You may sign up for your volunteer shift at either registration session or at the GLL parent meeting on March 18th at 11:00am. 

I would like to be a coach or manager.  What do I need to do?

At registration you will need to fill out a volunteer form and provide a drivers license for GLL to copy.  All volunteer coaches and managers will be subjected to a background check and final approval will be made by GLL president.

I was a coach last season.  Do I need to re-apply for my position?

Yes.  A volunteer form and background check is required each season by GLL.  Final approval will be made by GLL president.

My child played last season.  Will they be on the same team this season?

If your child is participating in the same division they will be placed on their 2011 team UNLESS other requests are specified by the parents.  If your child is changing divisions they will be placed on a new team based on the policies for each division.  All Jr Hawk players may be placed on a different GLL team regardless of GLL policies based on the agreement between GLL and the Jr Hawks.   

I would like to request a team for my child to be on.  Can I do that?

In the T-ball and Rookie divisions we will try to fulfill all requests for player placement.  In minor and major boys division players will be placed via the skills evaluation and draft or if they do not attend the evaluation they will be randomly placed on teams by the player agent.  Junior boys will be placed by the player agent and managers.  Minor, major and junior softball players will be placed by the player agent and managers.
