2014 Majors division Teams

The 2014 GVLL Majors Division Season will be kicking off on Saturday, March 29th with all 7 on the schedule.  This year the Majors Division will feature two new additions to the season.  First, beginning with the first weekend in April and every weekend throughout the season, Majors field will convert to a 50/70 field and the teams will compete using 50/70 rules.  50/70 simply moves the bases back from 60 feet to 70 feet and the pitchers mound back from 46 feet to 50 feet.  This is an excited opportunity for the players to experience a slightly different style of baseball.

The other addition is the change from Major League teams to Minor League teams for the uniform.  This is a change from the past and is sure to be a fun change for the players, coaches and parents alike.

The Teams you will see on majors Field this season are;

  • Lehigh Valley Iron Pigs (Phillies Triple-A)
  • Durham Bulls (Rays Triple-A)
  • Toledo Mud Hens (Tigers Triple-A)
  • Portland Sea Dogs (Red Sox Double-A)
  • Charlotte Knights (White Sox Triple-A)
  • Louisville Bats (Reds Triple-A)
  • Trenton Thunder (Yankees Double-A)

We have already received plenty of positive feedback on both of these additions to the GVLL Majors Division.  We are all looking forward to a great seaon at the Majors Division and hope to see some of the younger kids out at the ball park to get a glimce at what they have to look forward to as they progress through GVLL.

Thanks for all the support and we will see you at the Ball Park.

 Mark Brunner - Majors Division Commissioner
