In a game that had great pitching, clutch hits and game saving diving catches, the Junior Eagles came out on top of host Steele Canyon to capture the league title.
Looking to capture their first league title in 4 years the lady Eagles headed to Steele Canyon to play the once beaten Lady Cougars.
Neither team could score through the first three innings as both pitchers Courtney (Steele) nor laurissa (Granite) were painting the corners with strikes.
The Lady Cougars would score in the bottom of the 4th after a leadoff triple to right and a fielder’s choice and they looked to be in complete control and on their way to the win as the Eagles just could not get anything going offensively.
But this Eagle team never quits and in the top of the 6th Andrea came off of the bench and hit a leadoff single and advanced to third on back to back SAC bunts by Na'Tavia and laurissa and then scored the tying run on a clutch 2 out hit up the middle by Brittany.
With the score still tied at one on the bottom of the 7th, Steele looked to walk away with the win after a one out walk and stolen base put the winning run at second but Kristen had other ideas as she raced in and made a diving catch on what looked to be a sure hit sending the game into extra innings.
In the 8th inning the Eagles took advantage of an one out error with 3 straight hits as Brittany again came through with a 2 out hit to score Na'Tavia with the go ahead run, this was followed by a RBI hit by Sydney and then a RBI triple by Caity.
The Cougars would not go away as they would plate 2 runs and had the tying and winning runs on base before Nicole was able to step on first for the last out of the game.
