Despite three GSL ballclubs in the tournament's final four, Scripps Ranch took the crown as Rachel Brown out-dueled Granite Hills' BRITTANI BERTUSSI in the Falcon Fiesta title contest.
Brown struck out 13 batters in spinning a 5-hitter to raise her record to 13-0, nosing out Bertussi's 6-hit, 7-strikeout performance.
"We started getting to Rachel later in the game, but we just couldn't put all those hits together," noted Coyne. "But it was a great game and I'm proud how well the girls did in the tournament."
The Falcons scored the contest's only run in the 4th, when freshman shortstop Katie Dern singled and scored on a double by Schumacher.
