Lahitte came within one pitch of perfection in downing Grossmont South League rival Helix, 4-0. Facing Highlanders slugger ALYSSA DRONENBURG, the 2-2 and 3-2 pitches were ruled to be just outside for a walk -- the lone Scotties baserunner.
"Jenny just pitched another incredible game," said Eagles coach ERIN COYNE. "She was on the mark with her pitches all day. It's just too bad the umpire couldn’t give her one of those last two pitches."
Striking out 12 batters, the no-hitter was Lahitte's third of the season. She earlier accomplished the feat against West Hills (3-0 on Mar. 10) and Carlsbad (5-0, Mar. 19).
The Grossmont Conference record for no-hitters in a single season is four, set in 1979 by CHERYL FOREHAND of Santana -- one of the conference's oldest marks. The East County standard is eight, established in 1993 by Christian's SARAH DAWSON, who went on to become an NCAA All-America selection, then MVP of National Pro Fastpitch for the now defunct Orlando Wahoos.
"Helix never really came close to a hit except for a couple of balls to left field, but KYLEE WILSON came on to make some great catches," added Coyne, who is also a former Helix standout during her playing days.
