On Monday (Mar. 17), Granite Hills High junior BRITTANI BERTUSSI tossed a 5-inning no-no at visiting Morse in Falcon Fiesta tournament action. Bertussi struck out five Tigers without a walk, missing a perfect game when the lone Morse baserunner reached on an error.
"Brittani was just on -- working the corners and hitting her spots," said Eagles coach ERIN COYNE. "There are so many good pitchers here in the East County . We have two of them, with the defense to back them up."
The no-hitter was the second by a Granite Hills pitcher during the streak. Last Monday, Eagles sophomore JENNY LaHITTE turned the tables on West Hills in a 3-0 decision.
Bertussi also did some damage with her bat with a perfect 4-for-4 outing. Included were a pair of doubles and three RBI.
Meanwhile, five other Eagles -- SAGE WOODROW, JILL SCIARRA, AMANDA OMAHEN, SHAYLA ZETSCH and Lahitte -- all registered two hits. Lahitte collected three RBI in the 18-hit attack.
