The purpose of this non-profit organization is to foster, encourage and promote playing basketball for the children and families in the School District of Grafton. Club activities are open to boys and girls attending Grafton public and private schools.
Thursday, September 17
Mission: To get as many dedicated boys and girls involved in competitive play in the 3rd through 8th grades. The player will learn most through organized bi-weekly practices, with games/tournaments used to gauge progress.
Details:
v Teams will be made up of mainly Grafton youth, with area community kids added as necessary at the discretion of the GBC.
v Coaches will be chosen by the GBC. In order to be eligible to coach, the candidate must participate in GBC Fall Clinic instruction. The GBC will support coaches with practice materials, balls, gym time, coaching clinics.
v Equal playing time is the goal as much as possible. Playing time is determined based on the following:
Ø Player’s practice attendance
Ø Player’s practice effort
Ø Player’s basketball skill level and knowledge
v Fees to be determined based upon # of players per team as well as # of tournaments/leagues entered.
Ø The GBC may pay for one tournament per team, depending on funds available.
v Practice time court fees may be charged depending on whether Grafton School District charges the GBC.
v The GBC recommends at least 6 tournaments per season; it is also recommended that practice begin in October with tournament play starting in November.
v Practices will be Wednesday nights and most likely Saturday mornings or Sunday afternoons.
