I was at the End of Season Banquet this past Saturday. Teams were receiving trophies, players and parents were in long lines for burgers and hot dogs, and unlimited drinks etc. The big ole Bar-B-Que pit was smokin' like a train. It was a great evening. While I was about the park, I witnessed the best softball game I had ever seen. On field 4 there were a group of kids playin ball...no gloves, one bat, one ball, and I think none of them had shoes on. They must have played for better than an hour.....no umpires, no screaming parents, no coaches....and they played the purest game I had ever seen in my 32 years of playing baseball. How lucky was I to watch them play. How many of ya'll who were there actually watched this game. My only wish was those who watched would be taken back to a time when it was they who were playing...without umpires or coaches etc. These kids played on a field that AYSA board members and volunteer parents made possible to play on. I hope these kids keep playing and I hope they bring friends to play too. I'll be there too....as a coach...and a parent. You know why????? Because I love the game!!! See ya'll next season.

Its sad to know that this is happening!!! This is more then once I have heard bad things that is goin on.... things are not like they used to be... i remember when everyone had soo much fun we didn't care if we lost or won ... I am really sorry that things are this way!!!!!!

Body: Here I go what do you think about this one we have girls that played ball for the high school team they were not able to play with our team till there season was finished. And that’s ok. Fine we had a few teams that had this problem well I notice that at the games, practices, there were high school girls with their team mates cheering them on at the games. After they practice at the school first they would come out and help there team out awesome. But I never really seen any of them come for our team till tonight. My friend sat on side of me tonight and I said that’s ashamed that one of our girls was on the bench she was one of our girls that was with the team from the start of the season. I said that was so unfair to her. Then I looked again it was my daughter who was next sitting on the bench don’t get me wrong I was upset when it was someone else’s daughter but more pissed now cause it was my daughter. No she is not the best player on the team but it takes the whole team to win and a whole team to lose. I think the right thing to do was have the girls who have been here all season to play. SO I go and ask Whitney why are you on the bench the coach says it my decision I say I’m talking to my daughter and that’s my decision he says you want to talk after the game I say nope and that’s my decision too. So Whitney says mom its ok the bugs were bad anyway and that she was fine. OK her choice we start watching the game again and the catcher gets hurt I tell the Asst. Coach don’t even think about it. Well yep you guess it the Coach asked Whitney to catch she wanted to, but her dad said no get the high school girls to play. I said forfeit the game. Their coach says I’m not going to do that. You see last week a girl left the game because she was upset with the Asst. Coach was howling at her. The score was tied and we were up for bat (we got last bat) and he forfeited the game right when we had a girl up for bat he tells our girls they got to get use to coaches talking to them that way the coaches call kids stupid all the time at the high school this is so sad if they do, do this.
So what you think about that?
So if the game is about having fun what happened? And if the high school girls were so much better than our girls then why were we still losing the game? It is not about winning are losing its about the kids having fun. Well that is what I though anyway. Well I watch a game tonight before our game. I other coach was winning and so he tells the umpire that she needs to call the calls louder I bet what they got thru with parents and coaches they don’t get paid enough. She was trying and doing her best. Like the other night she was taking care of the game by herself and of coarse the coaches had a lot to tell her then to poor thing. So I will end this for now if I’m wrong tell me so if you feel I was right repost it for the girls who were for the team the whole season cause they are the ones who they are doing wrong to. I just a upset mom and the first child moms hopefully feels the same way. I hope the catcher is ok the batter should have hit the coach instead.
I know that is ugly but that is my option |

| Many thanks to your organization for the warmth, hospitality and good food given to us during the Regional Tournament. I must admit that this was a first for me... as far as Louisiana tournaments go, directors have never been treated as well as we were treated at this tournament.
