EAST COAST 22, SANDY’S 17
We got off to a slow start against East Coast, falling behind by 12-7 as we entered the
4th  inning.  In the 4th and 5th, both teams matched 5 and outs.  In the top of the 6th, the open inning due to time, we went down
1-2-3.
Overall we managed 27 hits with 6 doubles and 2 HR, courtesy of Tony and Jeff Conner.  That should have been good for a few more runs, but we were not able to finish out innings.  We put runners on base and scored some but in the first 3 innings we left 6 runners on base; twice we left runner’s in scoring position with just one or no outs.  A DP in the 2d inning with 2 on limited us to 1 run instead of having our big guns coming to the plate. It looked like we were waking up when we scored 5s in the 4th and 5th but our first 3 batters were all choke in the open 6th – and I led off. Defensively we played ok including some very good plays but East Coast was very opportunistic and capitalized on every error.  We had trouble getting accurate throws in the infield and had outs on 3 occasions if the throw to the bag been on target.  Had we converted the plays that should have been outs the score would have been much closer.   Tony and Eddie were the only two on base each of the 4 times they got up. Tony led in RBI with 5 with Russ and Jay following with 3 apiece.  Russ, Phil and Jay were each 3-4.

John Masterson pitched well enough to win and should have.
