YORK PA TO REPLACE LOUDON TOURNAMENT APRIL 25 & 26

The Brandywine Valley Senior Softball Association will again be sponsoring a great tournament in York Pa Sat and Sun Apr 25 & 26.  Previously I thought we would have to drive further to Loudon Va for a 3 day tournament - yet both guarantee 5 games.  3 days is added time and expense most of us don't have, and it is possible to drive to York Sat am prior to the first game (I will likely go Friday nite and stay over Fri and Sat).  Cost will only be $350 compared to $450.  It is a popular tournament; they have 10 teams in the 50 bracket already.  The HR rule is that you can go up 3 HR on the other team and singles thereafter (major level).  There is a chance, depending on our roster, that we will play AAA level (1 + 1 HR, singles).  Not sure if hitting the pitcher is an out; will find out.  Ultra IIs ok.  375/44 ball.  Other rules as we usually play.

York is one of the relatively close tournaments that is a lot of fun; great comp, nice fields.  York is 163 miles from my house (exit 11 NJTPK).  I drove it last year in 2 hrs 35 min.  Please let me know ASAP that you want to go - I will easily draft people for this one if you do not go, so let me know real soon.  Based upon earlier info I believe Jim Fischetti, Jeff Conners, Jerry Palazollo, Tom Donnelly, Glenn Gross, Jay Majewski and myself want to go.  I want to take 10 position players, a spare OF and a spare INF and have a alternate pitcher/C.  I will bat 12 and likely alternate pitchers.  If more than 13 want to go we will see how it goes.

WE WILL DO BP SAT AM PRIOR TO OUR FIRST GAME; YOU MUST ATTEND BP OR YOU WILL NOT PLAY.  I will only use players who are ready to play physically and mentally.  I will go up Fri nite to get better sleep; let me know if you want a room for Fri and Sat or Sat only.  We can work a lot of this out on Sun if you are there.  I won’t find out the playing schedule any earlier than a week ahead due to last minute entries and cancellations – and the schedules often change in mid-week.

I will be able to take 1 or 2 people with me very comfortably in my car if you want to go up Friday nite.  I have GPS, which reduces confusion and simplifies corrections.  You can drive to my place and park till Sun no problems.  If you wish to convoy up we can meet at a rest stop on the trnpk.  We will take exit 6 to the Pa turnpike.

LET ME KNOW IF YOU WANT ME TO GET ROOMS FOR YOU AT A DECENT HOTEL AND IF YOU WANT A SINGLE OR WILL SHARE A ROOM.  IF YOU KNOW WHO YOU WILL ROOM WITH LET ME KNOW ASAP.  The hotel I pick will include a continental breakfast – which is the most popular option prior to playing amongst other ballplayers.  If you want a room including a trundle bed so three can stay in it let me know; you three can decide how to split the cost.  If 4 want to share a two man room with 2 in a bed I will say it is done and I don’t care – I prefer a two bed, two person room myself.  Hell, Abraham Lincoln frequently shared a bed with a guy even when in the White House; who am I to ask questions?
