*Each girl will need to bring a snack or a breakfast item. We will send out an email/call with what you are assigned.
*Each girl will need enough money to buy lunch for Friday and Saturday. The troop will provide dinner on Friday night.
*We will plan on leaving the Great Wolf Lodge at 3:30 pm on Saturday, July 12th and returning to Thriftway by 4:15-4:30 pm.
Announcement from April 25th meeting:
The girls voted to go to the Great Wolf Lodge and shopping at the Legends this summer. More info. later
Announcements from May 2nd meeting:
Patrols:
We discussed and voted on starting patrols in our troop. The troop decided to do this. We have 18 girls with maybe 2-3 more joining. With such a large number of girls it sometimes takes quite a bit of time to accomplish tasks and decisions. So, we will probably be splitting up into 3 patrols with at least one girl elected for a 6 month term to represent her patrol. We might also implement an assistant patrol leader. One of the objectives of Girl Scouts is teach leadership. This will be the perfect way for the girls to start planning more of what they do and transfer some of the decision making to them.
Meetings:
We decided that with some other topics that we discussed that we would need to start meeting more to accomplish our goals (to be stated farther into the minutes). At this time, we are probably going to have some meetings over the summer. We will also meet more during the school year. We know that we are all very busy. We hope that you can make it to as many as possible. This is all yet to be determined.
Bronze Award:
We also voted to try to attain the highest award in Junior Girl Scouting which is called the Bronze Award. This is part of why we will need to meet more and the girls will need to start taking an active role in the leadership and decision making. They haven't decided what they want to do yet for their project.
Books, Uniforms, T-shirts, and a Troop Crest:
If we are going to actively pursue the Bronze Award the girls will need to purchase books. They have so much information in them. The girls can work on badges on their own. We just ask that the parents sign off on what they've done and make sure they understood the requirements. They have to complete 6 requirements.
In addition, every girl will need to get her sash or vest ready and update it with current patches. Our Troop number changed with the merger from 396 to 7396. We are also now Girl Scouts of Northeast Kansas and Northwest Missouri. So, there is an updated patch for this as well. If anyone has any trouble affording these please see one of the leaders and I am sure we can work something out. We voted to stay with the troop crest of the girls that came over from Lecompton. There will be more info. on that later.
The girls seemed very interested in getting/designing our very own troop t-shirts.
Flag Ceremony:
We are also going to start having a flag ceremony to open and close our meetings. We discussed obtaining a Girl Scout flag also.
May 9th: Our troop will be on a field trip for the last school year meeting. We will be going to Waxman candles to finish our Art in 3-D badge. More information to follow on times.
