There are some changes coming for the 2009 season. Returning Pop Warner parents are strongly advised to read this article. Dates you have traditionally taken vacations on may now have games.

Please note THAT THERE WILL BE GAMES PLAYED ON THE SATURDAY OF LABOR DAY WEEKEND.

These changes are due Arizona Youth Football Federation (our governing body) moving back to the national schedule. This means AZYFF Champions will now be competing for the chance to go to nationals in Florida!

All Gilbert Pop Warner parents are asked to take note and plan accordingly.

All tackle teams will now enjoy a 12-game schedule. The season is broken into 3 major sections:

1 - Regular season

2 - Playoffs/Non-conference games

3 - State and regional playoffs/Bowl games

The 12-game schedule includes playoff games. If a team makes an unfortunate early exit from the playoffs, they will still have additional game to fill their schedule.

Here are some key dates to plan for:

August 3^rd – Tackle practice begins

August 22^nd – Player Certification (Manditory for ALL Players)

August 29^th – First Tackle Game

October 10^th – 1^st round of playoffs/Non Conference games begin

October 25^th – Cheer Competition

October 31^st – AZYFF Championships

November 7^th – Semi Regionals

November 14^th – Regionals in Lake Havasu/Bowl games begin

November 21^st – 2^nd round of Regionals in California/2^nd Bowl game

November 28^th – Arizona Bowl in Phoenix (by invitation only)
