Georgia Fire Fastpitch Softball Mission
The mission of the Georgia Fire is to promote a superior athletic organization for girls fastpitch softball. The organization will strive to help players develop athletically, academically, and socially, by providing not only athletic opportunities, but re-instilling educational, leadership, and life lessons. While we strive to develop our players into collegiate level athletes, we also want them to become great students and citizens.
To excel as a first-class organization, the Georgia Fire is firmly committed to attracting the best coaches and athletes into the program. Our coaches are expected to be commited to their players and the program, continue to develop their own skills through annual coaches clinics, and provide the highest level of coaching in a professional, positive and motivational manner to the girls in the Georgia Fire.
One measure of the success of the Georgia Fire organization is that since its' inception in 2001, over 70 Georgia Fire players have obtained some level of athletic or academic scholarship to continue their education at the collegiate level. For a complete list of these players please see the Georgia Fire Alumni section.
For more information, questions relating to the Georgia Fire program, or if you have a top notch team with a strong coaching staff and would like to talk about joining the Georgia Fire, please contact Mark Whittle at mwhittle@comcast.net, or Kevin Kayler at kkayler@bellsouth.net,, or either of us at georgia.fire@yahoo.com.
Jessie James Memorial Scholarship
One example of the Georgia Fire being more than just "high level softball" is the Jessie James Scholarship program which was created in November, 2006, in honor of a former Georgia Fire player who passed away. This scholarship is awarded annually to a player from the Georgia Fire based on the requirements and guidelines of the scholarship. The scholarship award winners to date are:
2007 - Amanda Bills, Brenau University
2008 - Hannah Bradley, Furman University
2009 - Lauren Dykes, North Georgia College and State
2010 - Megan Uhrman, Savannah State University
2010 - Chelsea Whittle, Augusta State University
2011 - Rachel Orlandella - University of Georgia
2011 - Natalie Lampert - Georgia College and State
Partnerships with local softball associations
The Georgia Fire is proud to be a partner with Sandy Plains Softball Association, Alpharetta North Park Association, and Kenworth Park to help better promote the sport of fastpitch softball, and utilize and leverage our combined experience to better recruit, train, and develop fastpitch players, from as young as 10 years old, all the way through the 18 and under class of play.
Mizuno Partnership
The Georgia Fire is extremely proud and appreciative to have Mizuno as a premier partner and sponsor of our program since 2005. Mizuno is a world-wide leader in sports apparel and equipment and the Georgia Fire is proud to utilize its great products and apparel when we take the field.
