Boltz & Cannons
1st and 2nd Place Winners of the President's Day Tournament
Sunday, March 12
Boltz Finish 2nd Place in the AAU President's Day Tournament!

Boltz and Cannons battle through extra innings to a 10-11 finish in the bottom of the seventh with a walk off home run from the Cannons...

We learned that the score on the score board at the end of the game doesn't really reflect a winner and a loser. The way the game is played reflects that in some games there really wasn't a loser, only winners. The Cannons are such a classy group. I really enjoyed the battle. There were so many great baseball players on those fields last weekend. There were incredible hitters and pitchers and the best fielding you'll ever find at this level. The two best teams of the tournament fought to the end and while one great swing on one great pitch finished the tournament nothing will ever finish the Thunderboltz ONE TEAM ONE GOAL mission, which is of course, HONOR RESPECT and PRIDE.

Thank you all for another memorable Thunderboltz weekend, HRP. Coach Todd

Boltz Finish 3rd Place in Fall Classic '05

The Gainesville Thunderboltz 12U Ice is a team that has been together in AAU baseball since 9U. The Thunderboltz compete week in and week out driving 2 hours to face the best ICE teams Tampa, Orlando and Jacksonville have to offer. The Thunderboltz survive on the TEAM concept and have had very little turnover in their 3 year existence.

The Thunderboltz competed in the Fall Classic and were the 7th overall seed among the 20 ICE teams. The Boltz went 3-0 in pool play including defeating the overall 2nd seed Clearwater Cyclones. For this accomplishment the Boltz got to face the overall 1st seed East Coast Baseball Academy in the quarter finals. If you witnessed this game you would have to say it was one of the best games you’ve seen. Unbelievable pitching performances from ECBA’s Carson Fulmer and Thunderboltz Derek Vail made it tough for either team to score. After trailing most of the game the Thunderboltz took a 1 run lead in the bottom of the 5th only to lose the lead in the top of the 6th. The score was 5-3 in the bottom of the 6th. The Boltz were down to their last out with Derrick Vail hitting. Behind in the count 2 strikes Derek delivered a base hit. Brecken Whitfield up next with 2 strikes manufactured a hit. Next was Sam Markowitz with 2 strikes lined the ball down the first base line to score Derek and trail by 1. Remarkably the 4th consecutive hitter of the inning with 2 outs and 2 strikes, Kyle Brooks, delivered the hit that tied the game. East Coast finally got the third out sending the game into extra innings. Greg Webb with the help of a diving catch by right fielder Brecken Whitfield held East Coast in the 7th. In the bottom of the 7th Greg Webb lead off with a first pitch base hit followed by the game winning scorcher down the right field line into the corner by DJ Young that scored Webb from first. The game was a roller coaster ride of emotions leaving both teams, players, coaches and parents exhausted. The Thunderboltz went on to lose the semi final in their 3rd game of the day to Team Thunder. The Thunderboltz plan on playing together for many years. We invite you to come to Gainesville, catch a Gator game and play some Thunderboltz baseball.
