UPCOMING EVENTS

July 11th, 2009-  A joint fundraiser between the Gilberts Police Departmernt and GYFCA will be a car wash at the Gilberts Mobil on 72 in Gilberts from 9-2 to benefit the Grizzly Youth Football and Cheer program.  If you have questions or would like to volunteer, please contact Megan Nystrom.

August 1, 2009-  Kickoff to the season barbecue at the Eagles Club from 2:00 PM-?????? to benefit the GYFCA program.  We will have hot dogs, burgers and all the side dishes and desserts that you can imagine.

We will also have a dunk tank, horse shoes, volleyball, bags, and "lightning" in the back yard of the club.  We will have a cash bar for your convenience too.  The drawdown raffle will be held that night too.

We will also have a guest appearance from "Jurys Out" in the back yard or upstairs, if the weather is bad.  They are a great band that plays current music and all classic rock from yester year.  If you would like to get a taste of what they play, please go to their web site at www.jurysout.com  They are doing this to help out our program as Mike grew up with these guys and got them to come out and play.  We will pass a hat to help these guys out as they are coming from Blooomington to help us out.  Let us help them out too.

Everyone within the Grizzly family is welcome to attend with your friends and relatives.

We are asking for a donation from each adult of 10.00 to cover our costs and 5.00 for each child over 5. Any child under 5 is free.  All proceeds will go toward the GYFCA program.

In order to keep our costs down, we are asking each family to bring a dish to pass.  If you have something particular in mind, let Mike Curran know so we can plan accordingly.

We look forward to seeing everyone out at the club on August 1st.  If you have any questions, you can contact Mike Curran at curran22@yahoo.com or 847-687-6930.

3 DAY GRIZZLY MINI CAMP  IS COMPLETE!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks to everyone who participated in our second annual mini camp this year.  Let us give thanks to all the parents and children that braved the unseasonably hot weather those three days.  Many thanks to the volunteer coaches and board members that put in a lot of time and effort to teach the childrent the Grizzly way of doing things.  We would also like to thank head football coach Dan Cavanaugh from Hampshire High School for coming out on Tuesday and talking to the kids as well as observing the drills and offering his input to our coaches.  Your presence was very well received by all Dan.  On Wednesday we had Saint Edwards head football coach Mike Rolando and his staff of coaches come out to the mini camp and supervise drills run by their varsity players.  This gave our kids a different perspective to see how the high schools prepare for their season.  I think everyone was impressed with the Crusaders and the time and effort they put in to the camp.  Many thanks to you and your staff Mike.  You guys were outstanding.  We will be working with both programs very closely in the future.

THE GRIZZLIES HAVE ALREADY REGISTERED FIVE FULL COMPETITIVE TEAMS FOR 2009.

Please refer to the REGISTRATION link for specific information or contact a board member via e-mail from the BOARD link on our home page.  You can also call 847-687-6930 for more information.

GYFCA is  an association that plays and cheers in the highly competitive and highly respected Pop Warner based organization.  We do not run a soft program here in this town.  If you want to play hard core football, we will welcome kids that want to learn,  have fun, play hard, and be rewarded for their effort.  Programs exist in the area that are more about not competing as hard or playing in a competitive environment and not part of Pop Warner.  The Grizzlies primarily serve kids from Carpentersville, Hampshire, East Dundee, Huntley, Lake In The Hills, Pingree Grove, Sleepy Hollow, and West Dundee that feed into Dundee Crown, Hampshire, Huntley, Jacobs, and St. Edwards high schools.

We accept outsiders and welcome everyone to our prgram and all families are treateed with respect and treated like family in our program.

Pop Warner has a legitimate playoff system for the teams that are fortunate enough to get there by competing and earning the right to be in the playoffs.  The Super Bowl is held every year in Orlando for most divisions and play levels.

Pop Warner also has a highly competitive cheer and dance program that competes at  a high level with real competitions throughout the season and after.

Pop Warner offers a scholastics program that rewards athletes who excel in the classroom.  They are honored every year at a regional banquet in March, and if some are fortunate to make it to national recognition, the rewards are even greater.

GYFCA is also the most economical program in the area with no hidden fees to the parents to worry about and we do not have to travel out of state to play regular season games or travel for long periods of time.

We also offer a true family atmosphere where everyone is respected and treated equally.  All kids are given an equal opportunity to earn their position each team without politics or favortism.  Playing time is earned on ability in our prgram and nothing more and nothing less.  All parents and players are told that before they register and this is instilled throughout the season.  As many parents know, most programs in this area do not abide by this, but GYFCA believes in open and fair competition at all levels.

GILBERTS YOUTH FOOTBALL AND CHEER NEWS

Gilberts and Hampshire parents now have a choice where kids play football and cheer.  One program can no longer lay claim to call themselves the feeder program for Hampshire High School Football and Cheer.  Gilberts Youth Football and Cheer is a feeder program for the Hampshire Whippurs High School Football program.  The Gilberts Grizzlies accept kids from Gilberts, Hampshire, Sleepy Hollow and Pingree Grove that will feed into the Hampshire program at this time.  GYFCA also accepts kids that will feed into Jacobs and Dundee Crown from Carpentersville, East Dundee and West Dundee, and Lake in the Hills.  We look forward to working to provide high quality student athletes to the Dundee Crown, Jacobs, and Hampshire High School football programs.

The Gilberts Grizzlies play in the most competitive league in the area called Pop Warner.  Pop Warner adheres to a strict age and weight matrix without exceptions.  Unlike some programs in this area, you will be assured that your children are matched up equally by age and weight and play in a safe and competitive environment.  Fundamentals and the basics of football are taught and reinforced each and every day.

We do not have a star system in GYFCA and every kid plays regardless of ability, but each kid earns their time on their ability and attitude.  Nothing else is considered, but what the kid does on the football field and in the class room. Pop Warner has minimum play requirements for each child so that everyone gets a chance to play and compete in a highly competitive environment.  If this sounds like the program for you, please join us in making the GRIZZLIES the program of choice for football and cheer in this area.

Each year is a new year and we do not have pre-determined positions.  Unlike some programs in the area, each child must earn their position every year.  Nothing is given, but everything is earned without favortism.

We practice and teach football fundamentals every day in Gilberts.  We do not play soccer or kick ball during our practices.  We play football.  Kids learn the game of football and utilize what they learn during the week in the games on Saturday and Sunday.

Beginning at the Mitey Mite level through the Unlimited level, kids are taught to compete at a high level while having fun.  Kids are not coddled, as we realize football is a team game that needs everyone pulling together.

We also have a legitimate playoff system for the teams that are fortunate enough to get there by competing and actually earning the right to be in the playoffs.  The Super Bowl is held every year in Orlando for most divisions and play levels.  We do not have filler games at the end of the season to fill out the schedule.  Playoff games are earned by the teams that deserve them.

All of our coaches are interviewed by our board to learn about the people that will coach our kids.  All coaches must be ASEP certified and or USA coaching certified.  No other non- Pop Warner program(s) in this immediate area can boast that.  Feel free to look up coaches who are certified at www.asep.com or www.usacoaching.com when making a decision where you as a parent and a fan want your child to learn the game of football.

Furthermore, all of our coaches are given legitimate yearly background checks conducted by a Pop Warner endorsed company and not just a person in our organization that happens to be in law enforcement.  Unlike a few other programs in our area, You are assured that coaches, board members, or anybody working with your kids are not only certified, but legally accountable as well.  We value integrity and honesty and put the kids first.

Pop Warner also has a highly competitive cheer and dance program that competes at a high level with competitions throughout the season and after.

Pop Warner offers a scholastics program that rewards athletes who excel in the classroom.  Children are honored every year at a regional banquet in March and if some are fortunate to make it to national recognition, the rewards are even greater. No other program outside of Pop Warner can boast about scholastics.

GYFCA is also the most economical program in the area with no hidden fees or extra fundraising fees charged to the parents to worry about.

We do not have to travel 30 minutes each way to practice every day or out of state to play regular season games either.  We practice in Gilberts and our games will be held at a new field at Town Center Park in Gilberts in 2009.
