The City of Glenwood Springs provides discretionary grant funds to organizations providing human, cultural or recreational services to Glenwood Springs citizens. The Glenwood Springs Youth Hockey Association has been the proud recipient of a portion of these funds which are used for the scholarships each season. These partial and full scholarships provide opportunities for youth to enjoy the great sport of hockey!

Community Investment GIVING BACK The Roaring Fork Bank opened in Carbondale on January 23, 1973, with a ribbon-cutting ceremony presided over by Mayor Charles Kelly, Bank Director Wally deBeque, and President Bob Young. The ribbon was made from 50 silver dollars attached to a string of tape. The money was donated to Mt. Sopris Park and marked the beginning of Alpine Bank's tradition of community giving and involvement. Over three and a half decades later, hundreds of organizations and thousands of individuals have benefited from Alpine Bank and Bob Young's generosity. Community events, the arts, animal shelters, sports and recreation, and particularly children and education have been the focus of Alpine's philanthropy. Bob Young has been recognized as the Colorado Philanthropist of the Year and in every Alpine Bank community, the bank is a major donor and supporter of local nonprofits. Chairman Bob Young said he originally adopted his policies of giving back to the community because he thought it would be good for the bottom line. He has since realized, "It isn't good for the bottom line, it is the bottom line." |
