As new season starts, the Jackets seek to regain the crown, at the 3A/2A/1A PG Conference. The Jackets return 6 starters from last years squad and plans on making a major impact this year. (Concord  WVa. University) Brandon Proctor, (North Carolina A&T) Troy Tolson, (Shaw University) Josh Bushee and (Duquesne University) Reggie Eiland should keep a seasoned team well focused.

 

3/20/09: Jackets open season with win over Hornets

. The Jackets started the season on a good note with a victory over the Surrattsville Hornets. Brandon Proctor kept many would be batters bats on ice for (3) innings allowing no hits or runs and striking out (7).  The Jackets offense came to life with solid at bats in the third innings to provide a nice lead. Senior Troy Tolson worked the fourth, fifth and sixth innings, while Sophomore Clarence Joe completed the seventh.

3/21/09: GP seals game early with the Knights

Gwynn Park took advantage of many Knights miscues early in the game, which provided a 13 run lead after two innings of play.  Hanani Felton and Troy Tolson had solid performances on the mound limiting Forestville runs scoring opportunities

3/24/09 Crossland finds rocky road at home verse Jackets

 Senior Brandon Proctor is one of the main returning players. The Concord (W.Va.) University-bound left-hander won his second game Tuesday. Proctor tossed no-hit ball through three innings, with 24 of his 28 pitches going for strikes. He has allowed no hits and one walk in two games, while striking out 15. Proctor's pitches were consistently too fast for Crossland's batters to keep up with and they often found themselves swinging very late. Proctor left the game with a 14-0 cushion. Senior Reggie Eiland and sophomore Hanani Felton worked the fourth and fifth innings, and the game was stopped after that by the 10-run mercy rule.

 

3/31/09  Jackets close out the end of March with a win

Behind a solid pitching performance from Hanani Felton, the Yellow Jackets never allowed the Falcons to get off the ground with a arial attack of hot bats in the second inning.  .Josh Bushee and Clarence Joe finished out the remainder of the game.

4/2/09  Jackets hold off roaring lions in 7 innings

Brandon Proctor pitched a complete game striking out 13 would be batters.  The Lions played solid defense behind a strong performance by William Johnson.  Mike Faison had a clutch 6th inning base hit (2) RBI at bat to give the jackets some breathing room.  Next up for the Jackets are the Douglas Eagles.

4/8/09  Jackets show signs of Easter Break and has tough time finding egg.

The yellow jackets played behind all game and left runners in scoring position 6 out of the 7 innings played.  PG continues to struggle against out of conference play. 

 

4/17/09  Eiland saves best at bat for last with a Grand Slam Blast

The yellow jackets had committed several errors and were in need of a big boost.  Sr. Brandon Proctor was intentionally walked for a 3rd time, which plated Stephan Gansert. Gansert drew a walk and brought Eiland to the plate.  Eiland took a 1-1 pitch over the leftfield fence for a walk off Grand Slam. This was his first of his career, but one that will stay with him.  "Eiland stated, it really felt good coming off my bat, I tried to take a peak while running to first base to see if it went over and tripped.  As I got up, I saw the umpire motioning HR. 

4/17/09  Jackets double up and run rule Friendly

Brandon Proctor stayed in cruise control pitching four complete innings with a 12-3 lead.  The lead was built off a first inning 5 run outing as Josh Bushee hit a 3 run Homerun.  From that point on Proctor stayed the course striking out 10 would be batter while giving up 1 hit and 2 walks. Next up for the Jackets are the Forestville Knights 4/18/09.

4/18/09 Jackets finish up long weekend with a win over Forestville

Clarence Joe picks up his first win of the season pitching 3 strong innings.  Lovell Estep carried the load mid way in the game and Hanani Felton finished the game strong for the jackets on the mound.  Clarence Joe added to his RBI total with 3 and 3 base hits. Brandon Proctor finished the day with 6 RBI's.

 

4/23/09 Jackets leave Eagles a Buzz

After 5 innings of solid pitching, the Gwynn Park Jackets ended its game with Douglas.  Brandon Proctor got off to strong start lumping a ton of strikes with a knee buckling curve baseball yesterday to get things started.  Josh Busha drove a shot deep to center for his second homerun of the season.  B. Proctor, Tolson, A. Proctor rounded out the game as the Jackets prepare for Crossland on Friday at Gwynn Park.

 

4/24/09  Jackets enjoy the weather and a win vs Cavaliers. 

Hanani Felton pitched 3 strong innings to combine with Clarence Joe's finishing touches as the Jackets cruise past Crossland in 5 innings.

4/25/09 Jackets take two from Potomac

The Jackets Cruise in game one with a a 13-0 win. Brandon Proctor and Hanani Felton combine for a NO hit shutout. In game two Troy Tolson pitched a 2 hit 5 inning game leaving the mound with a 3-2 edge. Brandon Proctor closed the game pitching the 6th and 7th striking out 5 of the 6 batters faced.  The Jackets are back at home on Monday vs Douglas in a Make Up game.

4/27/09  Jackets take on Eagles at Eagles nest once again.

The Jackets visited Eagles field as the home team due to a schedule mix up regarding transportation.  GP traveled to Douglas for its second time in less that a week to finish its series with the Eagles.  The Eagles struck first scoring 3 runs in the top half of the first and added three more in the top of the second. Its was then the Jackets came to life in the hot sun and prompted a 13 run bottom of the second inning, which was capped by a HOT bat from Troy Tolson.  Tolson went 4 of 5 on the day at the plate and seemed to have great placement with his hits in some very timely situations.  Tolson and Proctor lead the way with 4 RBI's each in the game.  After catching for his 4th straight day in the heat, Josh Bushee still mustered enough energy to throw out the Eagles lead off base runner in the top of the 6th. 

4/30/09  Falcons Stung by Jackets

The GP Jackets hit the ball well and often to take a early game lead over Central.  Josh Bushee pitched 3 strong innings, while Derren Baker went 4 for 4 at the plate with 6 RBI'S.
