1. Who is eligible to play in GLLL?
Largo Little League offers baseball programs from T-ball through Little League Majors for boys and girls. There are two main criteria needed to meet to be eligible to play in the Greater Largo Little League:
Age: GLLL is open to players with a Playing Age of 5 to 15 inclusive. To determine a player's Playing Age, calculate their age by clicking here. Age Calculator
Residency: GLLL is open to players living within GLLL's boundaries. Little League allows some exceptions to the residency requirements which are handled on a case-by-case basis. For instance, a player who played in GLLL for the last two years but who has moved outside the league boundaries may possibly be able to receive a waiver to continue to play in GLLL. Little League sets the criteria for how a player is considered a resident of our boundaries; in general, if either of the player's parents OR a player's court-appointed legal guardian resides within the boundaries. For GLLL eligibility or boundary questions, contact GLLL Board member Dottie Mazzucco. GLLL Boundry Map
2. What are the fees for a GLLL season? The registration fees for the season are outlined on the GLLL Registration web page. GLLL has a policy (Financial Scholarships) to waive the fee for participants who would be unable to play otherwise. (Contact the GLLL President for details). You will be asked to work volunteer hours to offset the fees.
Each player will receive to keep a shirt and a hat from the league. The league will also provide the following equipment for use at games and practices: batting helmets, catcher's gear, baseballs, and bases. Players need to provide their shoes, bats, pants and all male players must wear a protective cup.
3. Why does GLLL solicit volunteers? Largo Little League is a 100% volunteer organization. The league asks each family to make a volunteer commitment in one or more areas. This volunteer activity has the potential for being extremely rewarding.
4. When will the season start and end, and how many games are played by each team? The timeline for the season is outlined on the GLLL Registration web page.
For T-Ball, Instructional teams, the season will end at the end of the "regular" season since there are no playoffs for these divisions. The season will be preceded by a period of team practices and practice games. Teams will generally be scheduled for two games per week -- a Saturday daytime and a weeknight game. In general the game days and times for each age division will be the same each week. During certain weeks of the year or in order to make up rained-out games, teams may play a game during their regular practice time. Due to field availability, the game during the week may be on different days on different weeks. Games will not be scheduled during the Pinellas County School Break period. In addition to the preseason practices, all teams should be scheduled to practice throughout the season.
For AAA and Majors, the season ends with a single-elimination playoff involving all the teams. The exact number of games played by each team will be determined based on total registration and field availability.
5. How do I register for GLLL season? Visit the GLLL Registration web page.
6. Why do new players need to submit a copy of their birth certificate? The league needs a copy on file of birth certificates for all players. This is required by Little League in order to document the eligibility of our players. We are asking players new to the league to supply a copy of their birth certificate with their registration. For American birth certificates, the copy needs to include a copy of the official raised seal. Should your player be selected to an All-star team the ORIGINAL offical birth certificate must be submitted to the league. This document WILL be returned to you after it is submitted to District 12 for approval, Contact a GLLL Player Agent with any birth certificate questions.

This refund policy applies regardless of the reason for the player drop or withdrawal, and includes players who register with GLLL but are later found to be ineligible due to Playing Age and/or because they reside outside of our boundaries. * Drop or withdraw on or before the first day of tryouts: refund is amount paid minus $25 processing fee per player * Drop or withdraw after the first day of tryouts but before the team draft date: $50 refund per player will be issued. * Drop or withdraw on or after the team draft date: no refund. Refund requests must be sent to the GLLL President (email). All refund requests for the 2009 Fall season will be processed in mid-season (no exceptions).
19. What is GLLL's waitlist policy? GLLL Player Agents will determine which players, if any, we are able to accept from our waitlist. Players are not necessarily accepted from the waitlist on a "first come, first served" basis. A player will only be placed in a division appropriate for his skill level, which the Player Agents determine according to age, playing experience, previous divisions played, past coach evaluations, and tryout results. When choosing between waitlist candidates with similar qualifications, number of seasons played with GLLL is also considered. In short, we strive to give players the opportunity of a positive playing experience, while minding the interests of the affected team(s) and the league overall.
20. What do I do if I/or my child is having a problem with one of my child’s team mates or any of the coaches? If there is a problem with any of the players, team parents or coaches please talk to your Manager after the game or practice. Please do this one on one away from all other parents and players. If your Manager is unable to address your concerns then, make an appointment to speak with them before your next game or practice. If this does not resolve your problem please contact the league Player Agent. You can send an email to LargoLittleLeague@yahoo.com with your concern in the subject line and we will make sure that your problems are addressed promptly.
