RSU No 5 Recreation and Community Education is dedicated to developing and maintaining a balanced program for all segments of the community in the areas of education, recreation, cultural and civic affairs, based on the identified needs of the community.
Freeport United
Freeport United Soccer Club was organized in 1997 to provide an opportunity for Freeport, Pownal, and Durham children to play soccer competitively against similar soccer clubs in neighboring towns and the larger Casco Bay and Mid-Coast region. The Club has a Board of Directors who oversee the operation of the club as a whole organization. The Director of Coaching provides support to all of the teams’ coaches and direction for the club’s approach to player development. Each team, of course, has a head coach who is usually assisted in administrative areas by a team manager. The Club typically fields teams for both boys and girls from Durham, Freeport, and Pownal at the Under-10, Under-11, Under-12, Under -13 and Under-14 age levels.
