National Champs!
The Fox Chase Renegades sent 3 teams the USARS National Championships in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania.
The Renegades 12 U Recreation Team met some fierce competition in the early rounds but then settled down and played good smart hockey to win a Copper Metal.
12 U Competitive team won the Gold Medal after a shakey start. The Renegades fell to the Richmond Rattlers 93 team 5-2 in the preliminary rounds. Facing a one and done playoff they beat the Richmond Rattlers 1994 team 2-1 on thier patented breakout play in overtime.
They then had to face the 1993 Rattlers again. This time the Renegades came to play! On a slap shot from the point with 1:21 left in double overtime on a powerplay the Renegades beat the 93 Rattlers 1-0. Winning the Gold!
The 10-U Competitive Team went to Pittsburgh with 4 first year 10's and 2-8 and under eligible players. This group came out tying the 1996 Rattlers 3-3 in the preliminary round.
In the first round of the playoffs they were matched up against The Mad Dogs. It was a hard fought game with both teams well prepared. The Mad Dogs came within a goal late in the game when the Renegades went to the well for a play they have worked on all year and sealed the deal winning 4-2. Moving on to the Championship game facing the Rattlers and thier loud fans again the Renegades 10 u team prevailed beating the Rattlers 3-2 in a game for the ages.
Thus becoming the USARS 10 U National Champions!!!
