U12/U14 Season End Party

Hi All,

We have scheduled our U12/U14 Picnic for Saturday, September 20th from 4:00pm to 7:00pm. The picnic will be held at the swimming pool park (I beleive it is Rock River Park). The picnic will be pot luck style and Mrs. Baker will be sending out RSVPs that will assign what you need to bring to for a dish.

All family members are invited, but please RSVP so we know how many are coming so we will have enough food. Mr. and Mrs. Weigand have generously donated money to reserve the facility and pay for part of the brats, hotdogs, and hamburgers, but we may need additional items.

We will eat approximately 4:30pm. Coaches wrap up 2008, present individual awards, and provide information on the off-season plan and look ahead to 2009. All players should bring all their uniforms (shorts & shirts only) to hand in. Also, please bring all your medals and awards you won throughout the year because we'd like to get a picture of all players dawning their 2008 accomplishments.

The season after the season.

This season saw drama and tears, wins and loses, highs and lows, but in the end this U12 season found success and victory, on and off the field.  Fort Fastpictch U12 emerged from the shadow of U14 to carry on our winning tradition.

In the months to come there will be planning and parties, volleyball and swimming, snow and ice, and softball.  Yes, softball season doesn't stop on August 1st.  When school starts and the leaves begin to fall Fort Fastpitch begins to prepare for summer 2009.  This autumn we will be doing that with a try at fall league softball, we'll be working with our pitchers and catchers in the gym, our hitters will be working in the cages and everyone will learn how to hit from the left side.  By the start of 2009 our U14 teams will be set and we will begin to work towards another run at a state title.

As you may know, if you are 13 before the end of 2008 you are no longer eligable for U12 ball.  That includes Aly, Kelsey, Zoe, Lauren, Rose, Holly, Emma, Bree, Meghan, and Katie.  The rest of the girls will be our core U12 2009 team.

This group of 13 year olds will add to the depth and talent which already exixts at U14.  OFF SEASON WORKOUTS will be very important to those who wish to make an impact at U14 in 2009.

Please call me to discuss your fall ball availablity and your 2009 goals.

Fort Fastpitch U12 WINS WFSL Championship Game!

Fort Fastpitch U12 swept the Windmill Fastpitch Softball League's Junior Olympic Tournament going 4-0 and winning the championship game Sunday afternoon.

The Blackhawks jumped out to a first inning 3-0 lead with back-to-back-to-back-to-back hits by Aly Gartland, Lauren Pfeifer, Emma Bare, and Meghan Lanza.  Fort added an insurance run in the 4th when Holly Deuster led off the inning with a triple and scored on Gartland's sacrifice hit.  That's all Kelsey Miles needed as she pitched a complete game.  Miles struck out 12 Watertown batters and scattered 4 hits in seven innings.  The U12ers took the gold medal with a 4-1 victory.

Fort started play on Saturday with a decisive 14-1 win over Watertown Thunder.  Kelsey Miles struck out 8 Thunder batters in 5 innings and Bree Brandl led a strong offense with three runs scored and a home run.

The U12ers then came from behind and beat a solid Marshell team in an international tie-breaker, 6-5.  Fort jumped out to a 4-1 lead after 3 innings on run scoring triples by Aly Gartland and Lauren Pfeifer.  Marshell battled back to take a 5-4 lead into the final inning.  Miles tied the game on a pass ball after Gartland was intentially walked with Miles on third.  Pfeifer scored the game winning run on back to back hits by Rose Steimke and Lexi Kent.  The Blackhawk defense held in the bottom of the inning.  Miles struck out the first batter she faced and Zoe Arnold made the last two put outs to secure the victory.

In the final game of the day,  Arnold pitched a no-hitter to lead the Blackhawks to an impressive 9-1 win over Watertown One.  It was Zoe's 13th birthday.  The offensive show was led by Miles, with two runs scored and a home run.  Emma Bare added a home run of her own and Pfeifer and Bare each smacked run scoring triples.

Solid defense, great pitching, agressive base running, and power hitting propelled Fort Fastpitch to victory in the Championship game.
