Players have been selected for the 2 Florida Fury teams for the Fall.  Please go to "Private Team News" in the left navigation menu to see the list of team members.

SUMMER SCHEDULE RECAP

Neither the 16u team nor the 18u team qualified for ASA Nationals this year, but they gave it a great try. The two teams participated in as many qualifiers as they could but just kept coming up a little short. But that is ok since our primary goal is to get the girls recruited to college, and the showcase tournaments we attended did not disappoint.

Both teams participated in the Summer Signature Showcase in June, and the girls received attention from quite a few coaches including University of Tampa, University of Tennessee Chattanooga and others.

In July both teams headed off to Pennsylvania to play in the TNT Showcase near Philadelphia in Quakertown. The 18s, who were at the primary park, received a ton of exposure as lots of colleges attended all of their games, while the 16s, at an outer park, had a great time playing teams from all over the northeast and gained valuable exposure tournament experience.

Both teams then traveled to Jacksonville for the Storm Showcase, and even though it was impacted by rain, the 16s got most all of their games in, and the 18s got some of their games. On Friday, there were a lot of coaches watching both teams, so the girls are expecting to receive follow-ups from the coaches.

The 18s then finished their season with a trip to the prestigious and exclusive Champions Cup Showcase in Irvine CA.  This was a phenomenal event. They played 6 pool games and 2 elimination games.  Despite injuries that left the team depleted to just 8.5 players, the girls played hard and showed well, and unfortunately were eliminated by the eventual runner-up, the Worth Firecrackers-Rico. But it was a fantastic showcasing opportunity as lots of coaches saw the girls over the course of the week. Some coaches that were very attentive were University of Texas, Northern Illinois University, and University of Tennessee, as well as others.

All of our graduated seniors are now off to college, and it is time to start looking to early commitments for our 2010 seniors. The Fall is going to be an exciting time for these girls.  

FALL/WINTER SHOWCASE TOURNAMENT SCHEDULE

The Florida Fury teams will be attending a number of showcase tournaments this Fall. Our schedule is below:

Jan 8-10        Winter Signature Showcase in South Florida

Both teams will be going to all tournaments except on October 30-Nov 1 when Team 1 will go to Houston and Team 2 will go to Tampa.

FURY ORGANIZATION HOSTING TOURNAMENTS IN 2009 & 2010 

The Florida Fury will be the sponsoring organization of multiple tournaments in 2009-2010, and will work with Fastpitch Headquarters and LDI Sports Consulting & Instruction on these events.

PRACTICE UNIFORM SCHEDULE

When we have practice on the following days, please wear the assigned uniform. 

TEXT MESSAGING SERVICE

ALL players and their parents MUST register their email addresses and their cell phone numbers in order to receive text/email communications from your coaches. We will not be able to make individual phone calls when we have practice or game changes. We will only be using this service.

To sign up:

Go to http://fastpitch.ealert.com and click on "Subscribe". You will see Florida Fury 1 and Florida Fury 2 listed under Travel Team (FL). We highly suggest that all players select both Florida Fury groups and any tournaments we are hosting or attending, and subscribe to all at one time. Then input your email address and your cell phone number as an email address. If you have more than 2 addresses, you will need to subscribe additional times. You can register as many email addresses and cell phone numbers as you want.

Cell phone numbers MUST be entered as an email address. There is a link to instructions on the page on how to convert your cell phone number to an email address. This is really easy to do. Make sure that you DO NOT put the "dash" between numbers.

Once you register an address, you will receive a confirmation message that you MUST reply to in order to activate your address. If you do not receive the confirmation message within a few minutes, you did not enter your address properly so try again.

GET YOUR FALL FORMS!

Players and Parents - It is very important that we get the signed forms (everyone), birth certificates/drivers license copies (new players), and insurance card copies as soon as possible. Even if you are a returner, you are required to re-sign the required forms. Please complete the forms that were included in your packet, or download them from Handouts, have them signed by all parties, and bring them to the lobby meeting on Friday at the hotel.

Players who do not have a driver's license or learner's license need to get a State ID card from the DMV. This is needed for plane travel, and for photo identification at tournaments. Please make an appointment to get this done as soon as possible.

Please make sure that ALL signatures are on ALL papers when you turn them in.

In order to facilitate credit card donations to our team and to eliminate the exorbitant fees charged by some fundraising organizations, we are using the resources of Fastpitch Headquarters for our online donations.

Using FPDonations, we are only charged 2.9% + .30 per transaction, which is well below the fees charged by fundraising companies and is comparable to normal transaction fees charged by credit card companies for merchant accounts without having the fixed monthly fees associated with a merchant account.

To make a credit card donation to the Florida Fury Softball Organization, click on the "Donate" link below and you will be taken to the Fastpitch Headquarters website where you can make your donation via a secure link with PayPal. You DO NOT need a PayPal account to do this.

The donation will be credited to the Florida Fury account. If you want one player to receive the credit, please put her name in the "Player's Name" field.

If you choose to increase your donation to cover the minimal fee, we would appreciate it.

If you prefer to make a check donation to Florida Fury, you should make your check payable to "Florida Fury", and mail it to:
