Federal Way High School senior Aaron
Broussard has inked a letter of intent to play basketball next year at Seattle University.
Broussard is a 6-foot-4 wing who averaged 14 points and led the Eagles with 11.3 rebounds a game. He also shot 58 percent from the field. Broussard
scored in double digits in all but five games and had 20 or more points in six games.
“(Aaron) is a physical and focused student-athlete,” said Seattle University head coach Joe Callero. “We want to keep the best Seattle area players at home. He has the mental and physical make-up to face the future competition.”
Broussard
was named second-team, All-South Puget Sound League North Division a season ago and was honorable mention during his sophomore season. He was also a first-team, All-SPSL North wide receiver this season for the Federal Way football team after catching 23 passes for 638 yards and four touchdowns.
Broussard
was one of two players to sign with Seattle University during the early signing period last week. He will be joined by Pasco High School’s Gavin Gilmore in the fall.
The duo will join Seattle University as it begins the transition to the Division I level next season. The Redhawks will play a mixed schedule next year with D-I schools and other competition before playing a full D-I schedule in 2008-09. Seattle will be eligible for Division I championships in 2012-13.
