Renovation work to begin next week at Volanta Park
Beginning next week, the City will begin renovating the spectator areas at the Dixie Boys, Minor and Ozone fields, with work starting at the Ozone field on Monday or Tuesday.
This work will consist of forming and pouring additional concrete from the existing bleacher pads to the pressboxes so we can increase the size of the bleacher pads and area available for fans to set up personal chairs and enjoy the game from behind the backstop. The City will work on one side at a time at each field, so at each field both sets of bleachers will be set up on the 1st base side while work is done on the 3rd base side, and then vice-versa while work is done on the 1st base side.
The City anticipates it will take approx 1 week per field to complete the work, so we ask for your patience and understanding during this process. This is an opportunity to have some much needed work done at the park and we know everyone will be pleased with the end result.

Fairhope Youth Baseball Needs Your Support!
CALL TO ACTION!
FAIRHOPE YOUTH BASEBALL ON FAIRHOPE CITY COUNCIL AGENDA
Fairhope Youth Baseball Needs Your Support! Please join Fairhope Youth Baseball at the Fairhope City Council Meeting on Monday, August 22 at 6:00 PM in the Council Chambers at the Fairhope Civic Center. FYB is on the City Council agenda to present an update on the 2011 season, the District 7 tournaments held at Volanta Park, the awarding of the 2012 Dixie Youth Baseball Ozone State Tournament and the ADECA grant application.
Fairhope Youth Baseball is applying for an ADECA grant for $50,000 to match a combined City and League commitment for park improvements at Volanta Park planned for Fall 2011/Spring 2012. This includes new scoreboards, new park/play area, new bleachers, fencing repairs and an access path to the Peanut field. This is a combined effort between the League and the City to improve the park on behalf of the citizens of Fairhope, the children and the parents of FYB.
A major portion of the ADECA grant criteria is related to the public interest. A public hearing will be held during the city council meeting for you and other members of the community to lend support to FYB's effort to obtain funding.
If you cannot attend the city council meeting, you can still show your support by emailing FYB at fairhopeyouthbaseball@gmail.com. For verification purposes, please include your name and address in an email, as well as those members of your household that have, currently or will participate in the youth baseball program in the future.
The grant application is due to ADECA by August 30, 2011.
Thank you for your continued support of Fairhope Youth Baseball and remember, "It's all about the kids!"

Team Practice Schedules Online
The team practice schedules are now online under the "Handouts" section, these practices will remain as scheduled until Opening Day on March 12. After Opening Day, each coach will be required to sign up for practices based on their game schedule each week on a first come, first served basis. The weekly schedules will be posted in the Ozone field pressbox for sign ups.
Please note that everyone is allowed to have 3 contacts per week with their team, however due to the number of teams and limited number of fields each coach was allowed to reserve 2 field practices, with their 3rd reserved practice being the opportunity for a batting cage. If, when you arrive for your cage session, there is an available field you may use the field instead of the cage.

Tee Ball Coaches: New Tee Ball Rules In Effect For 2011 Spring Season
Potential T-Ball Coaches:
This year each team will be allowed one head coach and two designated assistant coaches. Their children will be selected to the same team. This year we will try to honor one to two requests per team. Requests for a particular team should be placed by parents with a brief explanation written on the back of the registration card. We will not be able to honor all requests, but will work for the betterment of the whole.
After all coaches are selected by the board the final approval will be a Background check for all coaches in all leagues. Please make sure each of the 3 team coaches submit a Background Check Authorization form during registration, the form is available under the "Handouts" section of this website.
The rules governing the T-Ball league have changed this year. The rules are listed as "2011 Spring Tee Ball Rules" and provided under the "Handouts" section on this website. If you should have any questions, please feel free to contact the league President.
