FRANKLIN REGIONAL HOCKEY CLUB: FRHC News

The Varsity Team Defeats Wheeling Central Catholic!!!

In a hard fought battle at the Center Ice Arena, the Franklin Regional varsity ice hockey team defeated Wheeling Central Catholic, 6-5, on Friday night.  Both goaltenders saw plenty of action as the Panthers recorded their third win of the young hockey season, out-shooting their opponents 50 to 34. The Panthers built a 4-2 lead halfway through the second period, but Wheeling came back to tie the game late in the same period. With the game tied at 4, Ryan Crossey scored the fifth Panther goal with 7:35 left to play in the game.  Wheeling scored again to tie the game at 5, but Nico Cecere got the game winner with 5:52 left in the third period.  A spirited Panther defense held off the Wheeling squad the rest of the way, allowing only 6 shots on goal in the third period of play.  Crossey led the Panther offense with a hat trick and an assist, while Steve Shirk and Nico Cecere each had a goal and three assists during the game. Anthony Talamo also scored, and Johnny Miller added two assists for the Panthers. Goaltender Max Zahrobsky stopped 29 shots on goal en route to the victory.

Next, the Panthers will face off against undefeated Peters Township at the Center Ice Arena on Friday, November 13, 2009, and it promises to be a good one. Game time is at 8:15 P.M.

We'll see you there !!!
