FINALKICKTRICLUB: About the Club - Mission Statement

Final Kick and Tidewater Area Triathlon History

In the Spring of 1998, Final Kick Sports owners, employees, and a handful of area triathletes shared their knowledge and enthusiasm of the sport amongst themselves and with a few curious triathlon newbies. As interest grew, Final Kick Sports recruited more local runners, cyclists, and triathletes, and began organizing mentored swim, bike, and run training evolutions in the Virginia Beach area. The goals of the program were to share a love for the sport, educate where possible, and help emerging and experienced triathletes develop and achieve new goals. The Final Kick Triathlon Club is the next step in the evolution of what started several years ago. It has been created in an effort to formalize the great initiatives of the past and, through members supporting members, bring area triathletes together to train and share their common interests with one another.

Final Kick Triathlon Club Mission Statement

The Final Kick Triathlon Club is committed to provide friendship, training opportunities, teaching, camaraderie, encouragement, event selection, guidance, monthly meetings/social activities and more to anyone who is interested in the sport of triathlon. It is further dedicated to supporting triathletes of all levels and backgrounds to achieve their goals related to the sport of triathlon and general physical fitness. Additionally, the Final Kick Triathlon Club endeavors to build the reputation of the sport of triathlon within the Tidewater and Eastern Shore communities.

About the Triathlon Club

The Final Kick Triathlon Club is for people who enjoy swimming, cycling, running, duathlons, and triathlons, and want to train in a social atmosphere, encourage others in their athletic goals, and have fun at group workouts, races, and social events. The Final Kick Triathlon Club website and Final Kick Sports FORUM provide a great way for all members to post questions, get answers, find training partners, and just chat with other local triathletes. Camaraderie – Training – Competition, where members support members. We are a USA Triathlon Division II club with over 220 members. Our club athletes range in ability from Age Groupers who have not competed in a triathlon yet to Pro triathletes who are amongst the top 100 Ironmen in the world (based on the 2007 Ironman World Championships). Most of our members are dedicated Age Group athletes who love the challenges of multisports. Our ages range from 21 to over 60, with the average age at 38. Additionally, the membership is split evenly amongst men and women.Throughout the year the club has numerous swimming, cycling, running, nutrition, bike maintenance, and triathlon transition clinics and seminar. There are also monthly socials on the first Tuesday of each month, the third Thursday of each month, and on a weekend each month (based on race calendars). Throughout the year there are weekly running group training events: Tuesday TRACK, Thursday TEMPO, and Saturday LONG RUNS.
