Fundraising dates are announced here and on the Calendar page. Some dates and times are still tentative and all the information is subject to change. The calendar page will be updated as new information becomes available.
FUNDRAISING
The BPA runs fundraisers from time to time throughout the year. Their purpose is twofold. The BPA uses money it collects to support the marching band program, be it providing a vehicle to transport equipment needed in home and away football games and band competitions. (remember that since “home” games are played at the Middle School field, all games are essentially away games) to providing food, water, and treats at events and band camp to assisting with the band trip activity. Fundraising also helps student increase their student trip account balance. Most fundraisers are run on a 70/30 split where 70% of the fundraising profits are credited to the students account and 30% is credited to the BPA account. The BPA is able to continue to provide the many valuable services to the band program and yet keep the membership fee to the extremely low $5 through this fundraising percentage arrangement.
Most fundraisers are sent home with a due date for return, and are posted here and on the Calendar page.
One fundraiser running all year long is what we are calling the Warrior Gold Scrip Program. This fundraiser allows band members to earn funds for their account through the purchase of gift cards. Cards are available for many merchants and if used for everyday purchases like groceries and gas and more can add money to the account quickly. More information is contained in the cover letter that went home earlier, which can be found on our Handouts page. Link to the order form is http://www.simplifiedscrip.com/ . Occasional specials and sales appear; checking the Simplified Scrip website is a good idea. Subscribe to receive announcements of free shipping, sales, and specials.
Ashley Farms orders will be available for pick up on Tuesday evening, November 24, which is conveniently the night of a BPA meeting, and right before Thanksgiving. All items must be picked up that night as we have no room to store them. If you cannot, please arrange for someone to do it for you. Items not picked up will be donated to the food bank. All food can be refrozen and stored up to 6 months.
Joe Korbi Pizza Kits
Do you ever wish you (or your kids) could just throw something easy in the oven for lunch or dinner? The answer is here - - Joe Corbi’s Pizza. In addition to yummy and easy-to-prepare pizzas, you can also order calzones and sweet and spicy snack items. Best of all, our profit is $5.75 per item, to be split between your student’s trip account (70%) and the Band Parent’s Association (30%).
Brochures and cover letters are being distributed this week. If your student does not show them to you, please ask to see them.
§ The sale ends Tuesday, November 24, with delivery on Thursday evening, December 10.
§ White Collection envelopes and payments should be given to Mr. O or Ms. P on or before 11/24. They can also be turned in at the Ashley Farms fundraiser pickup or Band Parents Association meeting, both the evening of 11/24. If possible, please return a single check made payable to “FHS BPA” and/or cash.
§ Upon pickup on 12/10, refrigerate products as soon as possible. Products that are not picked up may be donated to the Franklin food bank. Pickup is tentatively set for 5:30 - 6:30 PM in the Band hallway.
