Camp StaffNeal Studd - Head Coach/Camp Director Neal Studd is the first ever head swimming and diving coach at Florida Gulf Coast University. After almost a decade of experience of running swimming camps this summer is the third season of Southwest Florida premiere swimming camp. His new FGCU college team competed in the NCAA Division 1 for its second ever season. The new team has made quite a splash as they were ranked as high as 17th nationally in college swimming’s division 1 mid-major poll in its first season. The team was arguably the best first year team in recent history in NCAA swimming and diving. The Eagles in their second season improved their National Ranking to 4th in the NCAA Division 1 mid-major poll!
Studd has single handedly built the new team at FGCU from scratch, but before FGCU his swimmers have enjoyed enormous success from NCAA Division 1 finalist’s and US Olympic Trials to athletes qualifying for almost all the major international competitions such as; World University Games, World Cups, Pan American Games, Pan Pacific Games, Latin/Caribbean Games and even the Olympics!
Elizabeth Lykins - Assistant Coach Elizabeth Lykins joined the FGCU Swimming camp staff in June of 2007. Lykins brings to FGCU seven years experience as a Division I Assistant and a solid swim camp background. She has been the assistant at FGCU for two seasons, before this she spent three seasons at Colgate University in Hamilton, N.Y. and two years as an assistant at Georgia Southern University. Lykins has been a regular on the swim camp scene throughout her coaching career. She spent the past seven summers in Athens, Ga. at the University of Georgia with the 2008 Olympic Head Women’s Coach. At the Bauerle Bulldog Swimming Camp, Lykins helps improve stroke technique of up and coming age group swimmers and teaches private lessons. Stanford University’s internationally recognized men’s coaches, Skip Kenney and Ted Knapp, also had a hand in Lykins’ swim camp success. She spent two summers in Palo Alto, Calif. working amongst Olympic athletes and coaches learning a great deal about stroke analysis and training methods. For two years Lykins had the opportunity to work at Hamilton College in Clinton, N.Y. in conjunction with Head Coach T.J. Davis, former Olympic Silver medalist Kristy Kowal and American Record holder Robert Margalis. This comprehensive camp includes a variety of stroke development, video analysis, one-on-one instruction, and dry-land exercises. The Total Performance Swim Camp provided Lykins with an additional two summers of experience. Alongside former World Record holder Steve Crocker, she learned to specialize in developing elite age group sprinters. Lykins also assisted in implementing the Colgate University developmental swim camp. Before returning to graduate school, Lykins resided in Telluride, Colo. One of her jobs in Colorado was the Head Coach of the Telluride Torpedoes swimming team for four seasons. Lykins is a 1998 graduate of the College of Charleston in Charleston, S.C. She received her master's degree in Sport Management from Georgia Southern University in May 2004. |
