MIT

F.A.C.E.S. 11U and 12U team competed in an action packed weekend at the MIT in Maryland, this weekend. Both teams were productive as they both reached gold and silver brackets, respectively. The 11U team went 5-0 before falling in the semi-final game of the gold braket to the talented and quick Rytes Warriors of Texas 54-39. The 12U team was 2-1 in pool play and loss to Virginia Cardinals in the quarter-final game by 4 points 52-48.

Good games this weekend by all! What a way to end as we approach AAU National's this summer!

Wednesday, June 3
Championship Sunday at the boys' "Best of the Best" as reported by New England Hoops News

11u - F.A.C.E.S. over MABC, 50-47
A team effort by a deep F.A.C.E.S. (NJ) outlasted and finally wore down the newly crowned Massachusetts State Champions, MABC. A back and forth game that changed leads numerous times throughout, was fittingly tied after the first 16 minutes. A late charged in the second half allowed F.A.C.E.S. to build enough of a lead to escape with a 50-47 win.

Jamal Allen was the catalyst of the MABC attack and the lanky lefty was able to get into the lane at will scoring 26 points from all over the floor. However, a balanced F.A.C.E.S. attack, led by the timely shooting of MVP Robert Cole (18 points) proved to be the difference. Cole was deadly from deep with five 3’s, two of which were the biggest as they helped his team build an 8 point lead that proved to be too much for MABC.

MVP of the Game

RJ Cole
Summary of Game: RJ Cole, MVP of the 11U division in the inaugural "Best of the Best" event, played with much more poise and composure than his 9-year old age warrants. The lefty handles the ball, sees the floor and can shoot from beyond the arc.  We look forward to watching his development in the future.

F.A.C.E.S. 11U Makes Noise at "Best of the Best" Basketball Tournament

Congratulations to F.A.C.E.S. 11U team as they went 5-0 to become the 2009 Champions of the "Best of the Best" tournament held in Springfield, Mass at the Basketball Hall of Fame. They showed and proved that being big doesn't always win games. It was their tenacity and team effort that persevered even when faced with adversity. This is their first Championship win of five championship game appearances during this AAU season.

We would also like to commend the 12U F.A.C.E.S. team for a great weekend! Teamwork and hardwork will prevail. Keep playing and believe in yourselves that you are winners each and everytime you step on the court.

Thank you to all parents and family members for your support this weekend!

F.A.C.E.S. 12U & 11U teams are runner-ups in the NJ AAU 12U Div 1 and Div 2 Championship!

Congratulations to both teams as they both advanced to the NJ AAU State Championship game!! Both teams went undefeated throughout the two weekend tournament.

F.A.C.E.S. 12U team came out and proved that they are a force to be reckoned with in their 3-pt loss to KSK! The team showed great pride and sportsmanship in a hostile arena of players and fans. We commend you for your effort and all of your hard work on and off the court. As always keep up that hard work and you will continue to be successful.

11U F.A.C.E.S. were undoubtedly the underdogs if you compared their size to that of Pure Basketball! But this resilient group of 9-11 year olds proved that size doesn't matter. They have the heart and will to WIN! They set out to do just that after being down by 6 during the first qtr. We overcame hard fouls and jolly but not so gentle giants to take the game into triple overtime before losing to Pure Basketball 12U team by just 2-pts. It's not over as you approach the 11U NJ AAU tournament, keep up that same intensity and will to win!

I am always proud of you all !!!

Coach Cole

Congratulations F.A.C.E.S. 10U/4th grade team!

F.A.C.E.S. 10U/4th grade team has won their first tournament of the year at the Jersey Shore Lightening (JSL) Hoops MLK Classic tournament this weekend. Despite winning against two 5th grade teams (Manchester Heat and JSL Hoops), a true test of their will and determination was against Battle Basketball team in a game that determined whether we would go to the SHIP! We were outsized from the start, but that didn't stop our boys from playing big. After winning that game we moved on to the championship game and defeated New Heights of New York. All players were instrumental in this weekend's win. Keep working hard and stay focused. Coach
