About 2 months ago there was a story about what City had the most Dominant High School players in the United States!!???.. Does anyone know what City or Metropolitan area that was???
It was Philadelphia Pa and surrounding counties in other words the Delaware Valley(Southeastern Pa, Southern New Jersey and Delaware) Rocks.
July 31st 2006 coach east coast regional director Paul Gripper of the Philadelphia RBK All-Stars Arrives in beautiful San Diego a week early to prepare for the biggest crowd of east coast Ballers to ever grace Cali in one weekend of Great Basketball..
Two days later 33 players from the Delaware Valley would join coach Paul Gripper at the Adidas Camp as Philly squared off to see what area had the best players in the Nation... This was the best Adidas Jr Phenom Camp ever based on the Competitions intensity and the detail that was paid to players playing the right way. 360 basketball players Graced Joe Kellers camp this August, Clark Francis the Powerful Basketball guru from Hoopscoop came and evaluated the players. I am not done yet we had the best Center and the 6th best Center of the camp. We had the 2nd best Power Forward, 4th best Power Forward, 5th Best Power Forward.... We had the 6th best Wing forward, We had the 2nd best Shooting Guard and the 11th best Shooting Guard and We had the 4th Best Point Guard in the entire 8th Grade division which consisted of 140 of the Best Middle School Baller in the US... OUR VERY OWN ALLSTARS TEAR IT UP AT THE JR PHENOM CAMP
 | | | Jr Phenom Camp 6th Grader's Joey Gripper(16th) Dion Houston(15th) |
The Cory Erving Allstars in Beautiful San Diego California. This is the Premier Exposure Talent Camp in the World today for Middle school players. The ADIDAS JR PHENOM CAMP has the top 80 in each class(6th,7th,8th Grade) in the nation for 3 days at Alliant University for some up in your face competition. Only at the Jr Phenom camp is where you can see the Best 6th grade Shootin guard from Kansas City go head up against the Best 6th grade Point Guard from Philly and so on. For the Cory Erving Allstars We start off with 5'7 sf Jack Oneil(Cory Erving Allstars 12u) who played his heart out to get exposure at this unbelievably talented basketball camp. Jack had a very good camp and played through some aches and pains to impress the scouts to rank him as the 4th best swingman of the 7th Grade division in entire camp and to a 46th ranked overall rating out of 80 7th grade campers for the Adidas camp, Not bad for this camp. Then we come to newcomer 5'5 sf Akeem Sprately(Cory Erving Allstars 12u) in only his first year of organized basketball scored 61pts in 6 games and played very well at this prestigious event to get noticed by many and although he did not make the precious top 50 list. He will definitely be invited back next year and will continue to impress as he did at this camp.
The next Allstar to impress was the explosive Sniper 5'4 pg/sg Kevin(KJ)Brown(Cory Erving Allstars 13u)8th Grade Class of 2009 who in the first 2 game playing along some of the best and top ranked players in the Nation Aaron Moore 6'6 pf(14th) and 6'5 sf(22nd)Brian Oliver KJ distributed the ball to these future NBAers to 2-0 start then played very even the rest of the way to have a consistent camp amongst the best players in the Nation.
Last but Definitely not Least brings us to Our Gem of the Camp. Lil Joey Gripper(Cory Erving AllStars 11u A Team) 5'2 pg played his way to the Top of the Nations(16th) top 20 list of Phenoms(6th Graders)Class of 2011 the old Fashion way by straight getting nasty on Defense and being unselfish, Deadly outside shooting and also sacrificing minutes at his coveted position of Point Guard to play 4 positions at this fiercely intense camp while dominating the entire floor. Joey along with his stellar teamates SEEN BELOW PJ Bouttie 4'11 sg(8th) Shane Larkin(Team Orlando/Orlando Dream Team) 5'0 sg(13th) Dion Houston(Team Texas Adidas 11u) 4'11 pg(15th) Dylan Admire(Kansas City Spartans 12u)(23rd) Shai Fields(Galveston Lakers 11u) 5'3 sg(30th) Brandon Ford(Maryland Future) 5'6 pf(19th) went on annihilate the competion at the camp by going an amazing 6-0 as Joey and his amazing Teammates went up against the likes of Stevie"wonder"Taylor 5'0 pg(6th), Jamal Branch 5'8 sf(2st), Matt Carlino(Team California 11u) 5'7 pf(1st) and Joshua Manalang 6'2 c(4th). In the final 2 games of the tourney Joey Gripper demonstrated such dominate play all around that he moved up 10 places on the final day from 26th to 16th. We would like to congatulate Young Joey Gripper who Narrowly missed the All-American Game due to circumstances that we will not discuss and leave the camp with two of the most memorable games of the camp in the final 2 games Joey Averaged 14 pts ,10.5 assist, 5 rebounds and 7.5 steals to impress the scouts immensely.
Also we would like to mention some more of Joey's Teammates Lil Hanif(Chops)Sutton(Cory Erving Allstars 10u/Mighty Hurricanes 10u(5th Grader) who at 10yrs old played well enough to be ranked 8th at his position in a division of 6th graders... Very impressive and Big Dylan Admire who in the last game was very happy recipient of Joey's Passes as the Tim Miller Led Team(White) went on to destroy Team(Gold) 61-42 led by the very fast Kendall Hargrove.
We would like to congratulate 5'1 pg/sg Sean(Gerry Mcnamara)Grennan(Cory Erving AllStars 11u A team) who made the All-American Team and placed a ranking of 12th overall after scoring 30pts in the Last game of the camp, Sean's Father Dr Stever Grennan was approached by Recruiting service Guru Clark francis(Hoop Scoop Chief Editor Recruiting Service) and told Mr Grennan that: "Sean was not on the ALL-American Team until that game he got on the old fashioned way he earnnnnneeed it" this was an actual quote. Sean is also a Cory Erving Allstar who joined us just a month ago at the 2004 11u Division 1 National Championship but had already signed up as Lloyd Daniels Rebel months ago. I am the proudest Coach in the United States......
We want congatulate Kyle Molock(Hockessin Hawks 11u) of Delaware and formerly of Team Philly(Untouchables) Kyle had a very good camp as he walked away with a 24th Ranking at the Camp.. THERE YOU HAVE IT THE 2004 1ST ANNUAL ADIDAS JR PHENOM CAMP IN SAN DIEGO CALIFORNIA. AWESOME!!!!!!
