For the safety of our players, their families, friends and coaches, the championship games scheduled for this Saturday February 9, 2013 are postponed.   Because next Saturday is the start of school vacation, we are trying to reschedule the games to take place an evening later this week.  We hope to have more on that either Monday or Tuesday and will notify everyone as soon as the night and time is confirmed.

To accomodate a few coaching conflicts, the playoff schedule for Saturday, February 2, 2013 has been modified as follows:

Team and individual pictures are this Saturday, January 12, 2013 at Park View.  Time slots are as follows.  You can get order forms from your coach, and they will also be available at the photo booth.  Please make sure you wear your team shirts, black shorts and a smile!

In case you haven't heard already, there are no games Saturday December 22 and Saturday December 29.  Games resume on Saturday, January 5.  

There will be no practices Christmas week and New Year's week; the regular practice schedule resume on Tuesday, January 8 at Bain / Wednesday January 9 at Canning Hall.   HOWEVER, Bob Clarkin will be holding two open practice sessions on Wednesday, December 26 and Wednesday, January 2 at Canning Hall.  Alpha is scheduled for 6:00pm, Juniors for 7:00pm and Seniors for 8:00pm.  Any girl from any team is welcome to attend the practices. Practice will include multiple drills and a short scrimmage at the end of the session.   EVERYONE IS WELCOME AND ENCOURAGED TO ATTEND!

We still don't have schedules yet for the upcoming 2012-2013 season.   We had to add 2 new Alpha teams and a new Senior team due to increased registration (a good thing!) plus Mary Parrillo has been under the weather the past few days (not a good thing), so we haven't been able to confirm the schedules yet.   We should have schedules by next week, but what we can say definatively at this point is that:

GAMES AND MINI-HOOPS START SATURDAY NOVEMBER 3, 2012

MINIHOOPS will be Saturdays at 1:30 pm.

ALPHA DIVISION GAMES (ages 8-10) are Saturdays GENERALLY 1:30, 2:30 or 3:30 pm

JUNIOR DIVISION GAMES (ages 11-12) are Saturdays GENERALLY 4:30 or 5:30 pm

SENIOR DIVISION GAMES (ages 13-17) are Saturdays GENERALLY 6:30 or 7:30 pm

ALL GAMES ARE AT PARK VIEW MIDDLE SCHOOL.

When we say generally, we may have to shuffle things around a bit to accomodate certain events (like school dances) that will affect a large number of our players (don't ask -- special requests for individual issues can't be accommodated).

We still aren't sure what is going to happen this Saturday Nov 3. The printing of the schedules was delayed due to the weather, the printing of the uniforms was delayed because of the weather, and we don't know whether the Park View gym will be available.   The coaches are meeting Thursday night, so we should have updates for everyone on Friday.   If we can't play games on Saturday afternoon, we still might practice on Saturday so don't make alternative plans just yet!  Thanks for your patience.

Congrats to the 2011-2012 Alpha Division Champions Doggie Do's Starrz, who beat the Commerical Screenprint Rockers in a well played and hard fought game.  The Rockers overcame a large halftime deficiet with strong second half defense to make for a thrilling ending, but couldn't catch up to the Starzz sharpshooting offense.  

Congrats as well the Junior Division Champions Wild Colonial Sun, who beat a scrappy Providence Bicycle Lynx in an incredibly exciting game.  Tied at halftime, both teams played exceptionally well in the second half, but the Sun's offensive juggernaut pulled ahead of the Lynx's relentless defense in the last few minutes to win the game.

Thanks, finally, to all the coaches, players, families and fans, who made the entire 2011-2012 season a great success.

On Friday, March, 2, 2012, all Edgewood Girls Basketball players, coaches, parents, siblings, friends and fans are invited to attend the Brown University Women's Basketball Game as they take on Ivy League rival Penn.  Come see players from our Junior Division scrimmage at half time!  After the game, hang around to meet the coach and members of the Brown Women's Team!   Tickets are FREE for all EGBL players and coaches (as well as any siblings and fans 12 and under), and only $5.00 for anyone else over 12.   Everyone is welcome, but you should sign up in advance if you are interested in attending.

Registration for the 2011-2012 Season will be $95 per player (additional sisters $70 each, Mini Hoops $60 per player). All games will be played Saturday afternoons from November 5, 2011 to February 11, 2012 at Park View Middle School, Cranston, RI.   All girls ages 5 - 17 (playing age determined as of December 15, 2011) are eligible and welcome to participate (except, please note that AAU and varsity players are no longer eligible).  We have 3 age divisions (8-10, 11-13 and 14-17) plus a Mini Hoops program for girls age 5-7.  We strive to provide an atmosphere that offers equality, guaranteed playing time, individuality, and most importantly, an overall great time and fun for everyone.   Come on out, get some exercise and have some fun!
