Eastside Little League: By-Laws - (AA) Machine Pitch

1. 1-3 practices/week during the season. 2. You may have up-to-4 practices/week prior to season start. 3. Two games/week. 4. Front legs of machine will be placed at 40 feet from home plate, speed is 30-35mph. 5. Only the coach may place the ball in the machine. 6. Restricted Injury-5 balls will be used. They are harder than a t-ball but softer than a regulation hardball. 7. Batter receives 4 pitches to hit the ball. If the 4th ball is fouled, a 5th pitch may be given. If 5th ball is fouled off, batter continues to bat until he puts the ball in play or swings and misses. 8. Runners are not required to slide but coaches are encouraged to coach it. No headfirst slides. A headfirst slide is an automatic out. 9. Score is kept. 10. No standings are kept. No playoffs. 11. 3 outs or 5 runs scored per half-inning, whichever occurs 1st. 12. Batters/Runners that have been put out must leave the bases. 13. 1 ½- hour time limit on games. No new inning shall start after 1 ¼ hours. 14. No umpires, coaches determine the outcome of every play. 15. Teams will use a continuous batting order. 16. If a player must leave the game, there will be no penalty, no out recorded when the player’s turn in the batting order comes up again. 17. Free substitution in the field but there shall only be 9 players in the field at one time. 18. All players will play a minimum of 2 defensive innings. 19. Players are encouraged to stay in the dugout when not on the field. 20. No parents in the dugout during the game. 21. The on-deck position is not permitted. The batter will be allowed time to warm- up in the batter’s box. 22. Catcher must wear full catcher’s gear, including a regulation catcher’s glove, not a fielder’s mitt. 23. Bases will be 60 feet apart. 24. No stealing on a machine-pitched ball or a passed ball. 25. Players may advance one base on an overthrow, play is dead when pitcher has the ball in the infield. 26. Team selection is completely random with AA coaches pulling names from separate hats (based on ages). Every effort will be made to make the teams even based on the ages of the players. Head Coach and Assistant Coach will have their own children on their team. 27. Only the Head Coach and Assistant Coach may be on the field during the game. One additional assistant may be in the dugout as long as he has had the proper background check. The additional assistant will be chosen by the Head Coach at the first team practice. 28. Only the Head Coach and one assistant coach will receive team shirt and must wear during the game. 29. All males are encouraged to wear protective cups. 30. No metal cleats.
