Eastern Shore Junior Bassmaster Devon Braune wins State and is headed to Junior Nationals!

Eastern Shore Junior Bassmaster Devon Braune won the 11-14 age division in the 2010 Delaware Bass Federation Junior State Championship on Saturday May 29th. Devon solidifed this prestigious tournament win with a single 5.99 lb largemouth bass. The largest fish of his short fishing career and already he has his eyes set on the bigger stage.

In August, Devon will travel to Georgia to compete in the TBF Junior National Championship. Prior to that in July, Devon will also be competing in the Delaware BASS Federation Nation Junior Championship in the hopes to qualify again as the state representaive for the 11-14 age division. With a win here, he would qualify to fish the mid-atlantic divisional held on his home body of water, the Nanticoke River, in September.

Devon has been a member of the Eastern Shore Junior Bassmasters for the last three years. His dad, adult member Josh Wich, has also been a member of the adult club for just as long. The father and son duo have had great success fishing togther in team tournaments and individually.

On behalf of the Eastern Shore Bassmasters, we would like to wish Devon continued success and the best of luck as he heads into the National Championship later this summer!

Eastern Shore Bassmasters are recruiting Junior Bassmasters...

The Eastern Shore Junior Bassmasters are looking for kids and young adults between the ages of 8 and 18 years of age to join the Eastern Shore Junior Bassmasters. The Junior club will be made up of three divisions starting this year.

There is an 8-18 year old fun-fishing division designed for kids and teens who just want to come out and fish and have fun with others their same age, enjoying the sport they love. There are no limits to the types of fish you catch or methods. Live bait is always welcome!

The second division is the 11-14 Junior Bassmaster program. This division is designed for kids that have been fishing for a while and would like to try their hand at competitive fishing in our junior club tournaments. This is a competitive club that will allow its members the opportunity to fish the Delaware B.A.S.S. and Delaware TBF Junior State Qualifiers, with a chance to move onto the Mid-Atlantic Divisionals, and possibly the Junior World Championships.

The third division is the 15-18 Junior Bassmaster program. This division is designed for teens and young adults that have been fishing competitively, and are serious about taking their fishing career to the next level, whether it be a high school team, college team, or joining an adult club and competing at the B.A.S.S. Federation Nation level. This division will also compete at the Junior State Qualifiers and possibly the divisional and national championship levels. The member from this division that wins the Junior State Qualifier, could earn a berth to fish as a junior member of the Eastern Shore Bassmasters adult club, and a shot at making it to the Bassmaster Classic.

Anyone interested in joining the Eastern Shore Junior Bassmasters at any level should contact Mr. Bob Moody at (302)270-3572 for more information, or email at  fish572@verizon.net.

The Eastern Shore Junior Bassmasters held another tournament on Saturday May 17th on the Nanticoke River. A great day of fishing was followed by some great catches for most of the club. Plenty of fish were caught and released today as well as numbers fish found still bedding. Catches were reported off of pad edges and drops at low tide and a topwater bite early in the morning. Congratulations to Jake for the win. The club's next tournament will be June 21st at Blair's Pond...

Juniors Hold Tournament on Killen's Pond...

The Eastern Shore Junior Bassmasters held their 1st official tournament of the year on Killen's Pond on Saturday April 26th. Lots of fish were caught, many fish too small to measure, but the group had a decent day. The club would also like to introduce and welcome our newest members Devan, Rahkese, Derontey, Jason, and Jamir. The club is sticking with the adult/junior team format. The rules allow the junior members to keep the weight of fish caught in the boat and add their individual lunker(bonus). Reports have most fish caught off of topwaters early and soft plastics throughout the day.

Eastern Shore Juniors Team with Adults for Early Spring Tournament on Silver Lake
The Eastern Shore Junior Bassmasters held another early Spring tournament on Sunday, this time on Silver Lake in Dover. The Juniors teamed up with a few adult boaters from the club in a team format. The rules allowed the teams to share their 5 best fish, with each junior member earning the boat's weight plus their individual lunker each. However the weather did not cooperate and forced the fish out off the bank and shallow cover, and caused them to slow down. The team of Dave (boater), Chris and Daniel, managed to score early and take 1st place with a beautiful 4 pounder staging up ready to come up shallow and begin feeding prior to spawning. Tony (boater) and Brad brought up 2nd place with a 1.41 pound bass caught off a dock with a shaky head. Other boats could not manage to get any fish to weigh-in.

Juniors Hold "Junior Winter Bass Challenge" Tournament in Dover on 2/17/08

The Eastern Shore Junior Bassmasters held an exhibition tournament this past Sunday in Dover, labeling it the "Junior Winter Bass Challenge". That's right Winter, its mid-February, and these young anglers are making a case for winter time fishing. Four juniors turned out for a decent day, a bit on the cold side but still, fishing is fishing!  The young crew found themselves a nice sized pond in Dover to conduct their tournament. Tony Asti, a former Junior member turned federation nation member was on hand to assist with the weigh-ins and referee the event. Here are the results.
