East Enders AAA Hockey Creates Another Option for Players

With an established and truly recognised program for players 16-20 yrs. old, Head Coach Chris Morton has a number of changes planned for the 2009/10 season of East Enders AAA Hockey. A change of venue and the re-branding of the division name has brought about a new brand of hockey attitude and style. With a successful Year One with the Toronto East Enders organization under his belt, Coach Morton delivered on bringing the organization competitive life after Midget hockey. The Program represented the organization well in Regular Season(finishing 3rd-56pts), Playoffs (Semi-Finalists), Tournament action, as well as 3 seperate U.S. Junior Hockey Showcase events.
As the Program enters its 11th year of Under 21 AAA with Coach Morton, the commitment to develop more than just a team environment, continues for the players. The Program has committed to providing, to these selected young men, the opportunity to build on something new....each and every season. To take pride in the fact that they will develop their own team chemistry and pass on that gained experience and knowledge to a new batch of rookies each season. This idea of a revolving roster, year in and year out, allows for a player to define himself within the overall team chemistry and continue to further develop his own level of play.
Our Program will continue to raise the bar with player development by signing 16 and 17 yr olds that decide to skip Midget Hockey. Traditionally the old Juvenile included 1 Home, 1 Away game and an hour of practice each week. This Program will continue to provide a preferred practice schedule for players committed to College/University and Advanced High School studies. For the 2009/10 season the Program will practice for 2 hrs (1 night) each week. This means only 3 nights of hockey most weeks. Allowing for more time towards study. As well as access to an exclusive Off Ice facility for a dryland training program and video review.
The Program will continue to play the most games (75-80) per season as well as playing 25-30 different opponents each season. From the OMHA, with as many U.S. Junior A/B teams, to also playing International entries in tournament and exhibition matches. The Program takes pride in having promoted many players to Junior A Hockey as well as a few U.S. College placements. The Program promotes a strict, disciplined and supportive structure that allows players to play within a competitive environment, to further develop their own skill sets and continue to commit to their educational endeavours.
