East Chatham Youth Football and Cheerleading League is a non profit organization that was founded on the principles of helping children build character and develop mentally and physically through the fundamentals of athletics and team sports. The East Chatham Charger Organization works with children from ages 5 to 15. The league has about two hundered children participating in both football and cheerleading yearly in our league.

The East Chatham Organization is run entirely by volunteers who spend not only the football season, but also most of the year preparing for the season events. With the exception of a grant from the Chatham County Recreation Department, we are self-funded. We raise needed funds through registration fees, gate admissions, merchandise, and concession sales to pay for player's equipment, uniforms, field use and maintenance, referee fees, storage and more.

We would like to take this opportunity to say thank you for all of those who have supported the East Chatham Chargers and participate in our league and to welcome anyone that is new. We always have a lot of fun on our teams and enjoy the spirit of competition and teamwork.

**PRACTICE BEGINS SATURDAY, AUGUST 1, 2009 @ 10:00 AM @ Hudson Field. Equipment will be handed out on 1st day of practice with paid registration.

The East Chatham Chargers are accepting applications for our Football and Cheerleading Board of Directors for the 2009 season. This is a rewarding opportunity to volunteer your time to the ones that need it most...our children of Chatham county.

All interested applicants should download and complete an application which is located on our website(Forms) and mail it to East Chatham Chargers PO BOX 1337 Pittsboro, NC 27312. The deadline will be January 31, 2009. All applications will be reviewed, background checks performed, and applicants will be introduced in front of the board (February) to aid in the selection process. The selection and notification process will be completed by February 28th, 2009.

The East Chatham Chargers are now accepting coaching applications for Head Coaches and Assistants for the 2009 season. If you are interested in coaching football Flag/ Tackle Football or Cheerleading for ECC please download and complete an application located under Forms on the website. Mail your completed application to ECC. Deadline will be February 20th,2009. All applications are reviewed by the ECC Board of Directors and considerations are first made on all applications submitted by the deadline.**Please note that if you are applying for Head Coach and you have an idea of who you want your assistants to be (vice versa) please attach a memo to your application indicating who they are.

**NEW***2009 Requirements: All football coaches (including assistants) must be certified through the USA Football certification process. This is important so that we can ensure a uniform learning experience of basic fundamentals throughout our program. All certifications must be completed by the 1st day of practice. The certification will be completed online and coaches can access the site and register by visiting www.usafootball.com.
