16U GOLD Sluggerfest RUNNER-UPS
THE 16U GOLD FINISHED 2nd AT 16u "A" SLUGGERFEST IN CINCINATTI. GREAT PITCHING and HITTING BROUGHT THEM THROUGH THE WINNERS BRACKET AND SEMI FINALS BEATING THE THRILLERS FROM BOONVILLE AND NEWBURGH. NICE JOB LADIES. YES---THATS 2ND OUT OF 44.THIS IS GREAT,2 STRONG FINISHES THE LAST 2 WEEKS. I HAD TO STRAP THE TROPHEY TO THE TRAILOR IT WAS SO BIG! ITS REALLY GREAT THAT WE BEAT THE COMPUWARE RUNNER UP HANDILY. THE MUSTASHE WILL BE GONE TODAY!

THE INDIANA EARTHQUAKE 16u INDEPENDENT BLUE TEAM DID WELL AT THE HOOSIER STATE GAMES GAMES ALSO.....they finished 2nd out of 19 teams. GO ALSIP!

THE 16U GOLD QUAKE'S DREAM FOR A NATIONAL TITLE CAME TO A CLOSE AFTER LOSING A VERY TOUGH GAME AGAINST THE TEXAS ICE 4-2. THE QUAKE SCORED AN EARLY RUN AS EMILY O'BRYAN AND ANDI GOFFINET COMBINED IN A BASE HIT EFFORT TO SCORE BREE MCFALL IN AN EARLY INNING...THEN 5 ERRORS IN THE 4TH INNING SCORED 4 RUNS FOR THE ICE.....
THE QUAKE AVENGED AN EARLY LOSS AGAINST THE COBB COUNTY FORCE 2-1 IN THE INTERNATIONAL TIE BREAKER......
AS A WHOLE THE QUAKE FINISHED 7-3 IN THE TOURNEY AND EARNED A TOP 10 FINISH....THE BEST EVER FOR A QUAKE TEAM IN AN "CLASS A" NATIONAL TOURNEY/WORLD SERIES.....

THE OKLAHOMA STORM GOT BEAT THIS MORNING BY THE COBB COUNTY FORCE FROM ATLANTA.....COBB COUNTY FORCE PUT THE QUAKE IN THE LOSERS BRACKET A COUPLE OF DAYS AGO WITH A COME FROM BEHIND VICTORY IN THE BOTTOM OF THE LAST INNING...WE WERE HOPING WE COULD MEET THEM AGAIN......

U16 WINS INDIANA ASA State Title
South Bend, Indiana (July 18, 2004): The Earthquake U16 girls fast pitch team won the ASA Indiana "B" State tournament played in South Bend, Indiana over the weekend. The team posted five wins with one loss and outscored their opponents 47 to 14. Brittany Deweese hit three hoe runs including 2 in one game and a 7th inning, 3-run, walk-off shot with two outs and a full count. The championship qualified Earthquake to represent Indiana with an automatic berth to the National Tournament August 2-6 in Alexander City, Alabama. The team has now won back to back state titles by repeating its success at the U14 division a year ago.
Earthquake U16 Runner Up in ASA National Tournament
Alexander City, Alabama (August 8, 2004): The Earthquake U16 girls fast pitch team finished second in the ASA "B" National tournament played in Alexander City, Alabama over the weekend. The team posted seven wins with two losses and outscored their opponents 36 to 10. Earthquake lost to the host Alabama Titans in the championship game 2-0. Titan's all-state pitcher, Tinsley Smallwood shutout Earthquake giving up only five hits. Earthquake ended up the year with 40 wins, 9 losses while capturing the ASA "B" State Title and finishing runner-up in the National Tournament.
QUAKE GOLD Places 13TH @ USSSA Class A World Series
The U16 Gold Earthquake finished 13th AS Team Coke from Toledo Ohio won the USSSA 'A' World series in Columbus, IN. They had put the quake in the losers bracket with a 3-2 victory. The pitcher was clocked at 63-64 miles an hour. We did hit this pitcher and came very close to winning the game a couple of times. They were a solid team up and down the line-up. And was one of the better teams we played all summer,including 18u.
Hats off to them,they won the nationals 2 years in a row. Thats not easy.

The Quake 16u GOLD was the only undefeated team in the 18u tournement. The championship game was suspended against the
Jasper Krush due to the thunderstorm. Since the Earthquake was the UNDEFEATED team out of the two, we took home the gold! NICE JOB!
Coaches and players-YOU GUYS DID GREAT! and the FANS were great too! What a great group of people we have!

AT THE HOME RUN CONTEST AND BASE RUNNING CONTEST THE QUAKE WAS AT THE TOP OF THE CHARTS...KRISTA PRICE WAS THE USSSA WORLD SERIES HOME RUN CHAMPION HITTING 3 OF 5 PITCHES OUT OF THE PARK WITH A 4th pitch going over in foul territory....Emily OBryan, another strong quake hitter hit one out AND 2 FOUL OUT TO FINISH IN THE TOP 5...THE METHOD THE QUAKE STARS WERE USING WAS A STRATEGIC MOVE DISCUSSED BY THE KIDS AND THE SOFT TOSSER(THE BIG GUY). IT WAS THE HAPPY GILMOUR SWING-WORKED GREAT...!!
SARAH HALLENBERGER WAS ONE OF THE TOP BASERUNNERS IN THE TOURNEY WITH AN 11.4 SECOND HOME TO HOME....WE WILL POST HER FINISH POSITION WHEN WE FIND OUT, IT WAS BELIEVED TO BE IN THE TOP 3-4....THE QUAKE STARTS BRACKET PLAY THURSDAY NOON TIME AGAINST THE ARTIC HEAT FROM ALASKA....HOW MANY OF YOU HAVE EVER PLAYED A TEAM FROM ALASKA?????????????????????ITS A FIRST FOR MCFALL AND THE QUAKE ORGANIZATION.....CHECK BACK FOR UPDATES.WE WON OUR LAST BRACKET GAME EARLIER IN A RUN RULE OVER THE OHIO PEPPERS 8-0......

Messina Lands Head Coaching Job At Texarcana College
FORMER McFall Assistant Coach is named Head Coach of Texarcana College in North east Texas. Kelly Burns was hired at North Texas University to open the door for Messina. Leslie was an assistant coach at Memorial High School in 1999 and a instructor for Indiana Earthquake softball and the late Roger Hughes of Diamond Sports Academy in late 90`s. She also played at University of Evansville. Kayla Smith and Leanna Myers,former EQ PITCHER USSSA World Series and Short stop took on open coaching vacancies. Another former EQ star Now High School Head Coach Kayla Straub, led Class 1A Lanesville to the regional championship game in these past weeks. Messina has already contacted the earthquake for players for 2005-06. Texarcana was in the College world series jc ncaa d-1 but was 2 games and out this past season. Good Luck Leslie!
Coach Marlow goes Home!
Good Luck to Tami Marlow, 6 year Earthquake coach and pitching instructer who has moved back to her home state of Michigan. Tami, we will all miss what you did for several of our current and former players.
Tami Helped Bob McFall and Dave Bailey at the 1998 ASA CLASS A 16u Nationals in Novi michigan to begin her coaching career with the earthquake. Several players from that team moved on to Play at the College level.

The 16u Gold WON THE THE USSSA "A" STATE CHAMPIONSHIP IN INDIANAPOLIS AT THE MIDWEST SPORTS COMPLEX AT 2PM SUNDAY AFTERNOON.AS RICK PRICE SAID "THIS WAS THE BEST TOURNEY WE HAVE EVER PLAYED IN" WITH 4 STRAIGHT WINS OVER VERY TOUGH COMPETITION ...THE PLAYERS DID A NICE JOB SCORING 5 RUNS IN THE FIRST 3 INNINGS AND HOLDING OFF A 5TH INNING 4 RUN RALLY BY THE INDIANA IMPACT.****KEY THING- NO DISTRACTIONS, THE PLAYERS STOLE THE SHOW.

U16 in Best of the Midwest U18
The U16 Gold team played in the U18 Midwest Elite this weekend in Mooresville. The U16Gold went 2-3 against very good competition. It was good practice getting ready for nationals
The 16U Gold will play 18u again next weekend in Jasper at the new multi million dollar complex.

EARLY PLANS FOR 2005 SEASON
The 16u gold earthquake team will move to 18u on the advice of some college coaches and a decision by the director. It will be the strongest team in the area with alot of the local "metro stars" along with pitchers from throughout the state. This team will be an attraction to all college scouts from canada to florida.(we will still play in florida) any questions please email me along with additional intrest. There will still be a 16u gold team and possibly a 16u blue team.
2005 TRYOUTS SET
The TRYOUTS for the 2005 EQUAKES will be at the Harrison girls complex on Covert Ave. on OCTOBER 2nd at 2 and 4 pm.
The 10 gold,12 gold,14 gold will have thier own set of tryouts at 2:00 pm.
The 16 Blue & 18 Blue will tryout at 4:00 pm.
The Gold 18u (16u) will invite players to come to a work out with current players,any player may inquire about coming to our workout if you and we think you would be a good fit for the 18U/16U gold team
