Frequently Asked Questions Who is eligible to play? Any child between the ages of 5 and 12 on the "league age date" of April 30th of the current year (for baseball) or December 31st of the previous year (for softball) who lives in East Windsor or Hightstown is eligible to play in our league. Any player who turns 5 by April 30, 2008 may register to play tee-ball in 2008. A player must satisfy all age and residency provisions to be eligible. Under Little League rules, a player can be a member of only one Little League program at a time.

Players are placed into divisions based upon age; however, for some divisions, parental requests, player skill level and the number of applicants are considered as well. In our Baseball program, the divisions include: Tee Ball: 5-6 year olds; A Baseball: 6-7 year olds; AA Baseball: 8 year olds; AAA Baseball: 9 -10 year olds; Majors Baseball: 11-12 year olds. In our Softball program, the divisions include: Rookie Softball: 6-8 year olds; Minors Softball: 9-10 year olds; Majors Softball: 11-12 year olds.
Where are the games played? The EWPAL Little League fields are located at the Airport Road Complex in East Windsor. All regular season Tee Ball and Baseball games are played on the Airport Road complex. Our Softball teams play most of their games at the Airport Road complex; however, we do play some away games at fields located within the surrounding communities as well, generally within a 20 minute drive. Click HERE for a map of the EWPAL Little League Complex. How can I register my child to play? Registration may be done in person at the complex or by mail by filling out the registration form and sending it with the proper fee. There is limit on the number of players EWPAL Little League can accommodate; therefore the league operates on a "first come, first served" basis at all age levels. Are players "cut" after registration? Not for the regular season. Once a player’s regular season registration is accepted there are no "cuts". Everyone gets to play on a team. Following the regular season, all regular season players are eligible to try out for a tournament season team. As these teams are quite competitive, and dependent upon the number of interested players, occasionally a player may have to be "cut" after a full try-out. When do we play?
Preseason clinics for registered players begin in January, with regular season play beginning in early April and concluding in the middle of June. The regular season is always concluded by the last day of school for the East Windsor Regional School District. Teams in all divisions, including Tee Ball, play or practice on weekdays as well as weekends. How are the teams formed? At the end of each season, the manager of each team completes an evaluation for each player on the team and submits these forms to the league coordinator. Prior to the beginning of the next season, the league conducts an evaluation day where player skills are again assessed. Additional information used in team formation includes the age of the player, participation in post-season tournaments (including evaluation from the post-season manager) and parent's requests, whenever possible. Coordinators for each league use all the information above as well as information from prior seasons to put together league pool assessment forms that coaches use for the draft, held by the team managers. The goal is to populate each division with teams of equal talent level, providing for competitive games during the regular season. Can I request for my child to be on the team with friends? EWPAL Little League makes every effort to honor the numerous requests at the instructional levels (Tee Ball and A ball for baseball, Rookie for softball). As children progress into the more competitive divisions, our focus is on balancing teams. In the competitive divisions (divisions playing games where the score is kept) managers draft players for their teams, and every effort is made to ensure teams are balanced at the start of the season. Because of this, the League cannot guarantee that a parents request for team assignment will be honored in those divisions. What does it cost to play in EWPAL Little League?
The fee for each player depends on the division he or she will participate in. Fee information is included on the registration form. All fees must accompany the registration form with your check as your receipt. How do I file a grievance or a misconduct complaint? Any issues regarding grievances and disciplinary misconduct should be brought up to the attention of the Player Agent of the league your child plays in. Any supporting documentation and/or testimony, in any form, should be made available to expedite such issues. All proceedings will be held in strict confidence. Who do I contact if I have questions about EWPAL Little League? If your child has been assigned to a team, his or her manager is a good place to start with any questions you may have. If you have questions during the pre- or post- season period, contact any League Board Member or send an email to East Windsor Little League. |
