Batting Cage Guidelines Batting Facility
The batting facilities will be available to all teams, baseball and softball during the season. Who can use the facility? Any manager wishing to use the batting facility with their team must attend a batting facility safety clinic. The clinics will be offered before the start of the season. Managers and coaches are urged to attend. Use of the cages will be limited to safety certified managers and their team members. Keys are required to enter the equipment shed. No keys will be issued to managers or coaches until they have completed the simple training on the safe use of our pitching machines.
It is our experience that if the balls are left out for general use, they have a tendency of disappearing as the season progresses!! To avoid this problem we anticipate providing each manager with baseballs or softballs in the beginning of the season and they will be required to return them at the end of the season. Each coach will have to provide a "bond" per dozen requested that will be returned at the end of the season upon receipt of the balls back to the program. When can the facility be used?
Every team can use the batting cages, provided the manager or coach has attended the batting facility safety clinic according to the posted schedule. No one may operate the pitching machine other than those who attended the safety clinic. You must be at least 18 to operate the machines. The batting cages have lights and may be used until 9:30 PM. Plan your time Because of the numerous activities at the batting facilities, managers should seek extra help from team parents when using the cages. Make sure nobody is swinging their bat outside the cage. Will the batting facility help players? While batting practice should help players perform at the plate, it should never take the place of a team practice where many other skills of baseball are taught. Clean up and Lock up Please remember to put away all equipment and lock the cages when you are finished. The machines are expensive and should be treated with care. Never pull on the electrical cord. Damaged machines take time and cost money to repair and when they are down, the batting cage is idle. |
