The money raised from these events is used to purchase new equipment, pay umpiring fees, provide the resources we need for the Sunday clinics each winter, and keep our registration fees as low as possible. The funds are also used to help improve the complex. Last year, we constructed  a new equipment shed to replace the old storage container that was no longer protecting our equipment from the elements.  Looking to the future, the Little League Board would like to build an indoor practice facility at the complex. We are one of the few programs in the district that doesn’t have an indoor practice facility, and having our own facility means providing more and better opportunities for your kids to play ball all year round. 

Realizing that some of the existing fundraising programs rely on the time and resources of the families and friends of the league to make them work, we looked this year for a program that would raise additional funds without costing the families any additional money.

We have contacted Shop-Rite about a gift card program. The program allows the league to pre-purchase gift cards at a 5% discount. The gift cards can then be purchased by the families and friends of the league for the full redeemable value of the card. The league will make 5% of the card value, and the user of the card pays nothing extra. 

With over 300 families participating in our program, we have the potential to raise a substantial amount of money with very little effort. For example, if each family spends $500 on groceries at Shop-Rite during a one month period and purchases the gift cards from the league prior to visiting the store, the league will net $75 in a three month period. If only 200 families out of the 300 in the league participate, we would raise $15,000, which is more money than any of the other fundraising programs bring into the league. The proceeds could be much higher, depending on how much each family spends on groceries and how many families participate…and best of all, it will cost you nothing!  

In order to maximize the benefit to the league, you have to be dedicated to using the cards for at least a three month period.
