*JUNIOR GIRLS ARE WORLD CHAMPS!!!
East Side Girls remained undefeated as they went into the final championship game against Texas/Southwest, after which they beat Texas/Southwest 10-1, and were crowned WORLD CHAMPS!!! They beat Phillipines 7-1, Puerto Rico 8-0, South/Tennessee 5-2, West 8-0; and in semi-finals beat East 4-0. Replays of the East Side Jr Softball World Series games can be heard on webcast archives with the Jim, Jim and Sully show at http://www.broadcastsport.net/
At Central Region in Akron, they beat Iowa 8-0, Missouri 11-0, and Wisconsin 9-2, won Semi-Finals against Michigan 6-2, and beat Ohio in Finals 1-0! Dillon Papa pitched a no hitter. Alex Skipper had 2 hits and Collin Hickey had the game winning RBI in the bottom of the 6th for Eastside.
Finals (Aug 8): South Bend Eastside 5, Wabash 3
Jordan Gates pitched a complete game. Eastside was led offensively by Alex Skipper with 4 hits. Dillon Papa, Ian Lower and Nick Carmola each added 2 hits for ES.

ES2 (14 yr olds) remained undefeated in pool play. ES1 (13 yr olds) just completed pool play with only one loss to NP. Both ES1 and ES2 played in district semi-finals.

This is District-wide team, includes East Side players. State was held in South Bend at Maurice Matthys 7/30 to 8/2. District 11 Won State over Fort Wayne 8-0!
They played in Regionals at Grand Rapids 8/6-8/11, advanced to Final game, and had a heartbreaking loss against Michigan 3-2! Congratulations Girls, Regional Runners-Up, we are proud of you!!

Several of the same strong teams from 2 years ago in Joplin for 11/12 Regionals are back as 13/14 Jr teams in Ohio, including the same Ohio team we beat 1-0 in the final regional game 2 years ago in a perfect game. The team we played yesterday was a good team, but our girls played well. Here is the info on yesterday's game: Jaimee Works had 3 hits, 3 RBI's, a triple and an in-park home run. Erin Jankowski had 3 hits, Kelsey Reynolds had 2 hits and 2 RBI's. Angela and Maria Gillis combined pitching for the win.

Angela Gillis, Maria Gillis and Kelsey Reynolds had 2 hits each. Maria Gillis had 3 RBI's.
Katie Sullivan, Maggie Seitz, Nikki Gropp and Jaimee Works all singled for Indiana/East Side Little League. East Side scored 3 runs in the bottom of the 6th to put the game out of reach for Michigan. Angela and Maria Gillis, winning pitchers, combined to pitch 8 strike-outs.

Indiana/ East Side Little League now advances to Final Championship game against Ohio/ Canfield Little League on Wednesday at 1:00 PM South Bend Time in Akron, Ohio. (This is the same team that this East Side team played 2 years ago as 11/12 year olds for the championship in Joplin, Missouri, when East Side won 2-0 in a perfect game, and advanced to the Little League World Series and placed 4th in the world.)
The winner of this game will advance to the Little League World Series - Junior Softball Division, which is held in Kirkland, Washington, beginning August 15, 2004.
(Friday winner is flown to Jr Softball Little League World Series in Kirkland, Washington)
