Carl Moyer wins 2008 Hahn Award
Moyer got his start in the early 60’s as a 17-year-old with Deep Run in the Mennonite League near Perkasie. From there he joined the service and organized a team of mostly Pennsylvania players that played in the Denver, Colorado city league. Over the next 25 years he organized teams in and around the Pennsburg area. It wasn’t all softball as Moyer also helped teach fundamentals in youth leagues. He even took time to umpire HS and Legion baseball.<br>
In 1996 he took over as coach and organizer of the Longacres fastpitch team building it into a team that has won numerous area titles and has made four trips to the ASA Class C Fastpitch National Tournament. About the same time he took over as President of the Penn Valley Fastpitch League helping keep the sport going in the Pennsburg area.
