Friday, April 29 Rules Committee Rules in Favor of Eyewear The Battle is over for protective eyewear for the sport of field hockey. The rules committee has been dealing with protective eye wear for the last 15 years and once again it was on the committee's agenda this year. out St. Louis regional representatives voted it down again and then had to go before the sports medicine board and defend the reasoning of why we did not see a need for the protective eyewear. But the NHFS Board then ruled in favor of the Sports Medicine Committee . The ASTM standard is the same for both Field Hockey and Lacrosse, with the mandate stating either polycarbonate or wire cage products. Eyewear may be purchased from a variety of vendors; however it MUST meet the ASTM Standards. (Look for the label on the packaging). I have attached two brands which I am familiar: DeBEER VISTA WOMEN'S LACROSSE GOGGLES (WIRE) (approximately $29.95) CASCADE IRIS WOMEN'S FIELD HOCKEY OR LACROSSE GOGGLES (around $59.95)
