I am happy to say that my father George Burgin has also been inducted into the ASA Softball Hall of Fame. He worked closely with Clif Ong bac in the early days of the Debs :)

I just turned 12 in November 2011 and I'm a catcher. I was wondering if there was a team I was eligible to try out for. If yes, what would the prices be?

Keep it going.

The Dutchess Debs started by Cliff Ong is nothing short of a great organization. Our teams in the beginning were taught what was necessary to play on our team. The needed the 3 'A's. Attitude, Attitude and Attitude. Keep the game fun, keep them smiling, teach them well, get them all in the game as they are all starters, and watch them grow...a great reward for a coach.

Hi everyone, a former Dutchess Deb softball player here, Vicki Campbell (Pitcher, 1b) I played with the Dutchess Debs from 1986-1991. I was scrolling through the guestbook and found my first coach Babe Carta!!! It was 1986 and I was 13 years old. (I played on the 15 and under team.) I refer to my softball days as the best days of my life. The memories, the competition and the friends will last a lifetime! Best of luck Dutchess Debs!

Hello to the Dutchess Debs organization. I was one of the first people to be part of the org many years ago. I was the 1st 15U manager while Cliff Ong was the 18U manager. I am very happy to see that the Debs are still going strong. Teach the girls well and keep the game fun.....it will be very rewarding.

Yours in Softball,

Babe Carta

It was really neat to stumble across this web site as I did a search on my own name. Your site showed me as having played D.1 ball at University of South Florida (USF). While I was there, Terri Huggins, my former Debs teammate, played against me twice. She was surprised to see me in Tampa. We played so well that year that at one point we were nationally ranked at # 11!! I pitched, played 1st, outfield and was a DH. It was a tough adjustment going from being the best on my high school team, playing with the area's cream of the crop on the Debs (the 1st team, 19 + U team) and then going to the D.1 level and standing around with about 18 players that were high school allstars! Hard work and determination gave me playing time! I was not a starter.
Thanks for keeping up the spirit and the organization. We were a tough team to beat back then. We were State Champions in '83. We also played the great and famous Queen (Rosie Black) and her Court in front of over 1000 people!
Since being in Florida, I have had the pleasure of meeting Former Olympic player Michelle Smith. She is awesome to talk with.
Also, the guy that was the USF team graduate assistant when I played is now the head coach and has been Mike Candrea's asst. coach for the Olympic team (Ken Erickson). I spent a year as an interim head coach at Saint Leo College, D.2. I really enjoyed that. I teach pitching to beginners and I always think of Clif Ong when I start with a new student.
If any of you girls want to email me, feel free. I will return your email. Time for y'all (that is southern for you all) to head indoors to practice.... we play year round down here!!! Good luck on your high school seasons and your upcoming Debs season.

Yours in Fastpitch,
Kelly McArdle '82 - '84
